Emina
Demirovic
Bosnia and Herzegovina center Emina Demirovic (186-C-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Sp.Studentesc, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Oradea (#15, 0-8) with 31-point margin 86-55. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Sp.Studentesc is placed at 13th position in Romanian Division A. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 6 games and recorded just two victories. It was one of impressive evenings for Demirovic as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Emina Demirovic averages this season 11.3ppg and 7.3rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old Hungarian Judit Kajdacsi (192-C-79, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) of Sf.Gheorghe. Kajdacsi had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds. Of course she lead Sf.Gheorghe to another comfortable win 80-64 over the lower-ranked Craiova (#9, 3-5) being unquestionably team leader. Sf.Gheorghe's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Kajdacsi is a newcomer at Sf.Gheorghe and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Sp.Studentesc's star - American guard Brandie Hoskins (175-G-85). Hoskins scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was another key player of Sp.Studentesc, helping her team with a 86-55 easy win against Oradea (#15, 0-8). Sp.Studentesc can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Hoskins she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Hoskins has individually a great season in Romania. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.7ppg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Vladinka Erak (190-C-84) of Sp.Studentesc - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Gabriela Marginean (182-F-87) of Targoviste - 17 points and 7 rebounds
6. Tarkeisha Wysinger-Mackey (177-G-89) of Targu Mures - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Zorica Mitov (189-C-87) of Craiova - 20 points and 6 rebounds
8. Biljana Stjepanovic (189-C-87) of Brasov - 11 points and 13 rebounds
9. Milka Bjelica (193-F-81) of Targoviste - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Jasmin Bailey (172-G/F-90) of Sf.Gheorghe - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Romanian players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is an international power forward Ashley Walker (187-87). She could not help one of league's weakest teams Venezia (17-5) in their last game. Despite Walker's good performance Venezia was badly defeated 65-48 at home by the higher-ranked (#3) Lucca.    [read more]
