Arad clinched the opening win in CEWL season. They drubbed Spisska Nova Ves in the first game of the season. Chrissy Givens (180-F-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) came up with 20 points to lead the Romanian side.
Arad exploded with 28 points in the first quarter to clear off. The hosts built an 18-point advantage after ten minutes. ICIM Arad extended their advantage in the second quarter. They piled up a 47:23 halftime advantage. Arad did not slow down after the big break. They accumulated a 60:37 lead with ten minutes remaining. Spisska Nova Ves could not recover as the home team cruised to the victory in the fourth period. Kari Laplante (195-C-89, college: USC) netted 17 points, while Jennifer Risper (175-G-87, college: Vanderbilt) accounted for 9 for Arad. Spisska Nova Ves answered with 17 points from Regina Palusna (192-F/C-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas). Romana Stehlikova (190-C-85) produced 15 points in the losing effort.

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in Liga Nationala. An exciting game was played in Targoviste. CSM Targoviste faced Cluj Napoca. Host CSM Targoviste (15-5) defeated guests from Cluj Napoca (13-7) 58-53. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American Point guard Adrianne Ross (173-PG-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cluj Napoca, receiving a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage). The 32-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, five rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to crush Brasov (#4, 12-7) with 18-point margin 90-72. Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Romanians who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is an international power forward Ashley Walker (187-87). She could not help Venezia (4-2) in their last game.
