Round 7 in Division A means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Oradea where host Oradea (6-1) beat league's leader Gaz Metan (6-2) 73-62 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gaz Metan. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-62. Oradea made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Serbian guard Nemanja Maric (196-83) fired 17 points for the winners. Australian swingman Daniel Dillon (194-86, college: Arizona) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). The former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Oradea keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Targu Mures. Gaz Metan at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Oradea. Gaz Metan will play next round against Pitesti trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Oradea will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Timba Timosoara in Timisoara.

Serbian guard Rade Dzambic (188-80, college: NYIT, agency: TSS Management) answered with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for Craiova. Targu Mures have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Oradea. Craiova at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Targu Mures will play against CSM Bucuresti (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Craiova will play against Miercurea Ciuc and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for CSM Bucuresti. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Farul Const. lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. CSM Bucuresti will meet league's second-placed Targu Mures on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Farul Const. will play against Rovinari (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It was an exceptional evening for Delvon Johnson who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). CS Dinamo Bucuresti's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Timisoara. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. CS Dinamo Bucuresti lost their seventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with seven games lost. Timisoara's next round opponent will be CSU Sibiu (#10) at home which should be theoretically another easy game. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Ploiesti (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Giurgiu was defeated by Rovinari in a road game 77-72. CSU Sibiu beat Miercurea Ciuc at home 77-68. Ploiesti won against Pitesti on the opponent's court 97-86. U.Mobitel.CN managed to outperform Timba Timis. in a home game 71-60.
The best stats of 7th round was 27 points and 8 assists by Pankracije Barac of Pitesti.


Targu Mures - Craiova 94-83

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Craiova (5-2) against fourth ranked Targu Mures (6-1) on Monday night. Visiting Craiova was defeated by Targu Mures in Mures 94-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Craiova. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Craiova took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Targu Mures had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Craiova was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-94. Targu Mures made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Craiova was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Rovinari and 9th ranked Giurgiu had identical 3-3 record. This time Rovinari used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Giurgiu 77-72. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-17 Giurgiu's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 77-72 at the end of the game. Rovinari made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Stefan Nikolic (193-87) who led the winners and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Very predictable result in Cluj where fifth ranked U-Mobitelco (5-2) beat 13th ranked Timba Timosoara (2-5) 71-60. It looked good early as Timba Timosoara took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then U-Mobitelco had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Timba Timosoara was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-71. U-Mobitelco players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Sean Barnette (198-86, college: Wingate) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Bulgarian Hristo Nikolov (200-85) accounted for 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five U-Mobitelco players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Bosko Stojakovic (196-84) came up with a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists and Montenegrin center Bojan Grubisic (212-80) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Timba Timosoara in the defeat. U-Mobitelco moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Timba Timosoara keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost.
