Jevohn Shepherd gets MVP of the Week award for Romanian Division A - Nov 13, 2012

Canadian Jevohn Shepherd (196-F-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for CSM Bucuresti and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 26-year old forward had the game-high 23 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for CSM Bucuresti in his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Farul Const. (#16, 0-8) with 21-point margin 99-78. CSM Bucuresti maintains the 7th position in Romanian Division A. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. CSM Bucuresti will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. Shepherd turned to be CSM Bucuresti's top player in his first season with the team. University of Michigan graduate has very impressive stats this year. Shepherd is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.2ppg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 65.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old Serbian power forward Dragan Petronic (206-F/C-82) of Farul Const.. Petronic impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Farul Const. lost that game 78-99 to the higher-ranked CSM Bucuresti (#7, 5-2). Farul Const. are still at the very bottom. 8 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Petronic is a newcomer at Farul Const. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Croatian Pankracije Barac (196-G-81, agency: Court Side) of Pitesti (#12). Barac scored 27 points and passed eight assists. Despite Barac's great performance Pitesti lost 86-97 to the higher-ranked Ploiesti (#8, 4-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Pitesti not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Barac could try to bring Pitesti's a little bit higher in the standings. Barac has a very solid season. In 8 games in Romania he scored 16.6ppg. He also has 3.6apg and FGP: 56.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sean Barnette (198-F-86) of U.Mobitel.CN - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Delvon Johnson (206-F/C-89) of Timisoara - 15 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Leonard Filip (200-F-93) of Dinamo B. - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Damien Kinloch (203-F-80) of Pitesti - 16 points and 6 rebounds
8. Goran Martinic (184-PG-87) of CSM Bucuresti - 20 points and 2 rebounds
9. Vladimir Tica (208-C/F-81) of Ploiesti - 21 points and 8 rebounds
10. Bosko Stojakovic (196-G-84) of Timba Timis. - 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Liga Nationala Round 7 (Second Stage): Steaua CSM lose to CSU Sibiu in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
The game between Top Four teams took place in Sibiu. Third ranked host CSU Sibiu (16-9) smashed their biggest opponent Steaua CSM (15-10) 76-55. It was a key game for the second position in Nationala. The game was mostly controlled by CSU Sibiu. Steaua CSM managed to win third quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game.
