34-year old forward Monique Coker (185-F-82) had a very impressive game in the last round for Targoviste and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. She had a double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds, while her team beat Sirius TgM (#9, 3-12) 78-68. Targoviste maintains the 3rd position in Romanian Liga Nationala. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Targoviste will need more victories to improve their 11-3 record. Coker has many years of experience at Targoviste, through which she has constantly improved. Old Dominion University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Coker is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.4ppg) and rebounds (4th best: 10.0rpg).
Second best performed player last round was Amanda Thompson (178-F-87) of top-ranked Sf.Gheorghe. She is American forward in her first season at Sf.Gheorghe. In the last game Thompson recorded impressive double-double of 11 points and 27 rebounds. It was enough for Sf.Gheorghe to edge the lower-ranked Cluj Napoca (#4, 10-5) by 6 points 61-55. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sf.Gheorghe consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. Her team belongs to top of the standings with 14-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Thompson is a newcomer at Sf.Gheorghe and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Cherise Daniel (180-G-87) of Sirius TgM (#9). Daniel scored 25 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Daniel's great performance Sirius TgM lost 68-78 to the higher-ranked Targoviste (#3, 11-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Sirius TgM can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Daniel she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Daniel has individually a great season in Romania. After 15 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (3rd best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Erica Covile (185-G) of Galati - 24 points and 5 rebounds 5. Andreea Olah (181-G/F-86) of Satu Mare - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 6. The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
