American Amanda Thompson (183-F-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for Alba Iulia and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 22 points and eighteen rebounds, while her team beat Sf.Gheorghe (#4, 8-3) 68-62. Thanks to this victory Alba Iulia moved-up to the 7th position in the Romanian Division A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Alba Iulia will need more victories to improve their 7-4 record. Thompson turned to be Alba Iulia's top player in her first season with the team. The University of Oklahoma graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thompson is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.3rpg) and averages solid 55.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Serbian center Zorica Mitov (189-C-87) of Craiova. Mitov impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Of course she lead Craiova to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Cluj Napoca (#12, 3-8) 79-32. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in . Craiova keeps 9th position. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Mitov is a newcomer at Craiova and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Natalie Novosel (180-G-89, agency: LBM Management) of Targoviste (#3). Novosel scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. She was a key player of Targoviste, leading her team to a 116-24 easy win against the lower-ranked Olimpia (#14, 1-11). Many experts and fans count Targoviste as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 10 victories and only one lost games. in . Novosel has a very solid season. In 7 games in Romania she scored 7.7ppg. She also has 5.1rpg, 2.4spg and and 3PT: 64.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ksenia Tikhonenko (193-F/C-93) of Targoviste - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Suzana Milovanovic (185-F-79) of ICIM Arad - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Ksenia Tikhonenko (193-F/C-93) of Targoviste - 16 points and 9 rebounds
7. Romina Filip (174-F-89) of Targoviste - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Andreea Hutanu (185-C-88) of Targoviste - 13 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Emina Demirovic (186-C-85) of Sp.Studentesc - 7 points and 17 rebounds
10. Brandie Hoskins (175-G-85) of Sp.Studentesc - 21 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
