Division A top team - Oradea (8-1) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Giurgiu (3-6) 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Giurgiu managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian forward Milos Pesic (205-84) stepped up and scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Australian swingman Daniel Dillon (194-86, college: Arizona) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oradea have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Giurgiu lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with CSU Sibiu. Oradea are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Farul Const. (#16) in Constanca in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Giurgiu will play at home against Pitesti (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to seventh ranked Gaz Metan (7-3) 106-64. Serbian power forward Aleksandar Mladenovic (207-84, agency: BeoExcell) nailed 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Slobodan Dundjerski accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Ciprian Mihai (203-90) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds for CS Dinamo Bucuresti in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gaz Metan moved-up to fifth place. CS Dinamo Bucuresti at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Gaz Metan will play against CSU Sibiu (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Timba Timosoara (#13) in Timisoara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Farul Const. (0-10) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to third ranked U-Mobitelco (7-2) 103-56 on Friday evening. U-Mobitelco have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Timisoara and CSM Bucuresti. Newly promoted Farul Const. still closes the standings with ten games lost. U-Mobitelco will meet Targu Mures (#6) on the road in the next round. Farul Const. will play against the league's leader Oradea (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Timba Timis. was destroyed by Pitesti on the opponent's court 84-55. Rovinari managed to outperform Targu Mures in a home game 63-59. Timisoara rolled over Miercurea Ciuc on the road 91-66. CSM Bucuresti defeated Craiova on its own court 87-78. Ploiesti beat CSU Sibiu in a road game 83-71.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 23 points and 5 rebounds by Zach Henifin of Miercurea Ciuc.

Rather expected game when 13th ranked Timba Timosoara (2-7) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Pitesti (5-5) 84-55 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Timba Timosoara managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti forced 28 Timba Timosoara turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Timba Timosoara's players. The best player for the winners was American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) who scored 25 points. American forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. Five Pitesti players scored in double figures. There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Rovinari (6-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Targu Mures (6-3) 63-59 on Saturday. Rovinari have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Targu Mures. Rovinari will meet higher ranked CSM Bucuresti (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Targu Mures will play against the league's second-placed U-Mobitelco in Cluj and hope to secure a win.

Miercurea Ciuc - Timisoara 66-91

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (1-9) was rolled over at home by fourth ranked Timisoara (7-2) 91-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Timisoara led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 30. The best player for the winners was Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. Serbian Ivan Jelenic (192-85, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 18 points. U-Mobitelco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. U-Mobitelco have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Timisoara and CSM Bucuresti. Newly promoted Farul Const. still closes the standings with ten games lost. U-Mobitelco will meet Targu Mures (#6) on the road in the next round. Farul Const. will play against the league's leader Oradea (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Nationala. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. First defeat of Craiova (1-1) against Targu Mures (1-1) 78-75 was the most important game of the last round.
