Division A round 13 most important game was a victory of Alba Iulia over 5th ranked Alexandria 60-54 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Alexandria. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-11. But Alexandria won second period 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Alba Iulia won last quarter 18-13. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Shanita Arnold (165-89, college: Arizona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) answered with 18 points and 5 steals for Alexandria. Alba Iulia have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Alexandria at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Timisoara. Alba Iulia are looking forward to face Cluj Napoca (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alexandria will play against Sp.Studentesc (#9) in Bucuresti and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Oradea is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to ninth ranked Craiova (6-7) 67-42. The former international center Gabriela Toma (192-74) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Zorica Mitov chipped in 10 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side forward Alexandra Vlaicu (178-91) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Craiova have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Oradea at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Craiova will play against Targu Mures (#10) at home in the next round. Oradea will have a break next round.
The game in Timisoara was also quite interesting. Second ranked ICIM Arad (12-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Timisoara (7-5). ICIM Arad did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 67-50 on Saturday. Chrissy Givens nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. ICIM Arad's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tiffany Brown came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Timisoara in the defeat. ICIM Arad keeps a position of league leader. Timisoara lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Alexandria. ICIM Arad will meet at home Olimpia (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Timisoara will play against Brasov (#11) and hope to secure a win.
The game between 13th ranked Rapid (3-10) and third ranked CSM Targoviste (11-1) in Bucuresti ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Targoviste outscored Rapid 94-52. Gabriela Marginean fired 20 points for the winners. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CSM Targoviste have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Satu Mare. Rapid lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with ten games lost. CSM Targoviste's next round opponent will be Sf.Gheorghe (#4) in Sfantu Gheorghe. Rapid will play on the road against Satu Mare (#3).

In the last two games of round 13 Targu Mures beat Cluj Napoca on the road 53-37. Sf.Gheorghe destroyed Sp.Studentesc on its own court 91-55.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by Jasmin Bailey of Sf.Gheorghe.


Cluj Napoca - Targu Mures 37-53

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Targu Mures (5-7) beat on the road 12th ranked Cluj Napoca (3-9) 53-37. The game was mostly controlled by Targu Mures. Cluj Napoca was better in fourth quarter 13-4. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cluj Napoca to just 3 points in third quarter. Targu Mures held Cluj Napoca to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Targu Mures forced 24 Cluj Napoca turnovers. American power forward Chantel Hilliard (187-90, college: Auburn) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Her fellow American import guard Tarkeisha Wysinger-Mackey (177-89, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) produced 9 points and center Luminita Manta (192-90) added 5 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Very expected game when 8th ranked Sp.Studentesc (5-7) was smashed by fourth ranked Sf.Gheorghe (9-3) in Sfantu Gheorghe 91-55. The game was mostly controlled by Sf.Gheorghe. Sp.Studentesc was better in second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Sp.Studentesc's 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Jence Rhoads (180-88, college: Vanderbilt) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Her fellow American import swingman Jasmin Bailey (172-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!).
