The biggest surprise of round 11 in Division A was guest Craiova's (8-3) road victory over 4th placed Rovinari (7-4) 82-71 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rovinari. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Craiova made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Rade Dzambic (188-80, college: NYIT, agency: TSS Management) who scored 32 points and 7 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). The former international center Ionut Dragusin (221-85) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Louis Darby (196-84, college: Long Beach St.) produced 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Craiova moved-up to second place, which they share with CSM Bucuresti. Rovinari at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Craiova is looking forward to face Ploiesti (#4) at home in the next round. Rovinari will play against U-Mobitelco in Cluj and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was played in Cluj between second ranked CSM Bucuresti and 6th ranked U-Mobitelco where CSM Bucuresti (8-3) beat U-Mobitelco (7-4) on the road 92-87. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (184-87, agency: BeoExcell) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Jevohn Shepherd contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. CSM Bucuresti's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Derek Wright (180-86, college: Austin Peay St.) answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for U-Mobitelco. CSM Bucuresti maintains second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Oradea, which they share with Craiova. U-Mobitelco at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. CSM Bucuresti will play against league's leader Oradea at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. U-Mobitelco will play against Rovinari (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Giurgiu's next round opponent will be CSU Sibiu (#10) at home. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Farul Const. (#16) in Constanca and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 11 Timba Timis. was defeated by CSU Sibiu in a road game 93-77.


Dinamo B. - Giurgiu 61-93

Bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-61 loss to twelfth ranked Giurgiu (5-6) in Bucuresti. The game without a history. Giurgiu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CS Dinamo Bucuresti to just 7 points in third quarter. Giurgiu dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to CS Dinamo Bucuresti's 32. Giurgiu forced 19 CS Dinamo Bucuresti turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by CS Dinamo Bucuresti helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 32. They outrebounded Targu Mures 47-22 including a 31-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oradea looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Targu Mures' players. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Nemanja Maric (196-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Bogdan Tibirna (210-91) helped adding 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. They made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Timba Timosoara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
