There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in Division A.

The game between third ranked Timisoara (12-5) and sixth ranked CSM Bucuresti (12-5) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Timisoara was defeated by CSM Bucuresti in Bucuresti 87-72. The game was mostly controlled by CSM Bucuresti. Timisoara managed to win fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSM Bucuresti looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Ivan Bosnjak (198-82, agency: BeoExcell) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Brian Morris (205-87, college: Humboldt St.) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists for the guests. CSM Bucuresti have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Timisoara. CSM Bucuresti is looking forward to face Ploiesti (#5) on the road in the next round. Timisoara will play against Rovinari and is hoping to win this game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mures. Third ranked Targu Mures faced 4th placed Ploiesti. Host Targu Mures (13-4) defeated guests from Ploiesti (12-5) 66-55. Bosnian-Croatian guard Matija Ceskovic (192-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. Ousmane Barro contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Catalin Burlacu (210-77, agency: Court Side) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds for Ploiesti. Targu Mures have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Ploiesti dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Targu Mures will play against Gaz Metan (#8) in Medias in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ploiesti will play at home against CSM Bucuresti (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Oradea delivered the sixteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-17) 105-55. Milos Pesic stepped up and scored 19 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Dan Ioan responded with 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Oradea. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. CS Dinamo Bucuresti lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still closes the standings. Oradea will meet CSU Sibiu (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Pitesti (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Constanca, where higher ranked Gaz Metan (9-8) lost to fifteenth ranked Farul Const. (2-15) in a road game 68-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gaz Metan. Nenad Tomasevic nailed 21 points for the winning side. Gaz Metan's coach Marcel Tenter rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Farul Const. maintains fifteenth place with 2-15 record. Gaz Metan at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Farul Const.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Timba Timosoara (#13) in Timisoara and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Other games of round 17 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Craiova defeated Pitesti in a road game 83-73. Giurgiu beat Timba Timis. at home 72-64. Miercurea Ciuc was destroyed by Rovinari on the opponent's court 89-67. U.Mobitel.CN managed to outperform CSU Sibiu in a home game 89-76.
The best stats of 17th round was 19 points, 14 rebounds and 8 blocks by Ionut Dragusin of Craiova.

But then Targu Mures had a 26-7 second period charge getting the lead and Ploiesti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-66. Targu Mures dominated on the defensive end, holding Ploiesti to just 7 points in second quarter. Ploiesti was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. U-Mobitelco players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by CSU Sibiu's players. Bulgarian Hristo Nikolov (200-85) nailed 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Derek Wright (180-86, college: Austin Peay St.) accounted for 15 points and 12 assists. U-Mobitelco's coach Niksa Bavcevic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Mihail-Octavian Paul (188-82) came up with 20 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American forward Devon Austin (198-87, college: Manhattan) added 18 points respectively for CSU Sibiu in the defeat.
