Experienced Serbian Ivan Bosnjak (198-G-82, agency: BeoExcell) put on an amazing game in the last round for CSM Bucuresti and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. The 30-year old guard had a double-double of 18 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Timisoara (12-5) 87-72. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. CSM Bucuresti is placed at 3rd position in Romanian Division A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. CSM Bucuresti will need more victories to improve their 12-5 record. In the team's last game Bosnjak had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Ivan Bosnjak averages this season 10.5ppg and 6.0rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old former international center Ionut Dragusin (221-C-85) of Craiova. Dragusin impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Craiova cruised to a 83-73 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Pitesti (#11, 7-10). Craiova's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 12-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Dragusin is a newcomer at Craiova and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was another CSM Bucuresti's star - American Brian Morris (205-F-87). Morris scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was another key player of CSM Bucuresti, helping his team with a 87-72 easy win against #4 ranked Timisoara in a game of the week. CSM Bucuresti needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 5 lost games. Morris has a very solid season. In 2 games in Romania he scored 17.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Derek Wright (180-G-86) of U.Mobitel.CN - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 12 assists 5. Hristo Nikolov (200-PF-85) of U.Mobitel.CN - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Zlatko Jovanovic (181-PG-84) of Timisoara - 16 points and 10 assists 7. LeVar Seals (195-G-82) of Craiova - 21 points and 6 rebounds 8. Laszlo Lazar (207-PF-87) of Oradea - 14 points and 10 rebounds 9. Milos Pesic (205-F-84) of Oradea - 19 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Sean Barnette (198-F-86) of U.Mobitel.CN - 10 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
