The most important game in the last round took place in Medias between second ranked Targu Mures (13-5) and eighth ranked Gaz Metan (10-8) on Saturday night. Targu Mures were defeated by Gaz Metan on the road 63-76. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Targu Mures. The game was mostly controlled by Gaz Metan. Targu Mures managed to win second period 13-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gaz Metan forced 26 Targu Mures turnovers. It was a good game for Montenegrin-Serbian forward Ivan Ivanovic (205-80, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian center Zoran Krstanovic (204-82, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds for Targu Mures. Gaz Metan maintains eighth position with 10-8 record. Division A top team - Oradea (17-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked CSU Sibiu (8-10) 83-76. Serbian guard Nemanja Maric (196-83) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Sasha Topchov chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Devon Austin (198-87, college: Manhattan) with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Oradea have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-1 record. CSU Sibiu at the other side keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Pitesti.
Bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 18th consecutive match to eleventh ranked Pitesti (8-10) 90-59 on Saturday evening. Damien Kinloch notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Andrei Badila did not help to save the game for CS Dinamo Bucuresti. CS Dinamo Bucuresti's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Pitesti moved-up to tenth place, which they share with CSU Sibiu. Loser CS Dinamo Bucuresti still closes the standings.
The game in Ploiesti supposed to be also worth to mention about. 5th ranked CSM Bucuresti (12-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Ploiesti (13-5). Ploiesti did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 103-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of CSM Bucuresti. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The best player for the winners was Catalin Burlacu who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. CSM Bucuresti at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Farul Const. was beaten by Timba Timis. on the road 80-65. Craiova won against Giurgiu on its own court 84-70. Rovinari unfortunately lost to Timisoara in a road game 87-94.


Miercurea Ciuc - U.Mobitel.CN 56-87

The game between 14th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (3-15) and seventh ranked U-Mobitelco (12-6) in Miercurea on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Cluj outscored Miercurea Ciuc 87-56. The game without a history. U-Mobitelco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 36. U-Mobitelco forced 19 Miercurea Ciuc turnovers. It was a good game for Canadian swingman Stephen Ross (201-80, college: Santa Clara, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when thirteenth ranked Timba Timosoara (5-13) beat 15th ranked Farul Const. (2-16) in Timisoara 80-65 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-65. Timba Timosoara outrebounded Farul Const. 35-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Timba Timosoara especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage.
