The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Oradea (18-2) on the court of sixth ranked Timisoara on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Timisoara 63-56. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Oradea. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 17-5 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Timisoara dominated on the defensive end, holding Oradea to just 5 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Oradea 49-38 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dominique Archie (200-87, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Delvon Johnson (206-89, college: Arkansas, agency: Priority Sports) who added 6 points and 20 rebounds during the contest. Australian swingman Daniel Dillon (194-86, college: Arizona) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Timisoara (14-6) moved-up to third place, which they share with Targu Mures and U.Mobitel.CN. Oradea at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Timisoara is looking forward to face Pitesti (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oradea will play against Ploiesti (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was U-Mobitelco's (#4) 97-88 road victory against 5th ranked Ploiesti. The winners were led by American guard Derek Wright (180-86, college: Austin Peay St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Hristo Nikolov supported him with 20 points. Even 21 points and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) did not help to save the game for Ploiesti. U-Mobitelco (14-6) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Timisoara and Targu Mures. Defending champion Ploiesti dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with CSM Bucuresti. U-Mobitelco will play against Gaz Metan (#8) in Medias in the next round where they are favorite. Ploiesti will play on the road against the league's leader Oradea and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Targu Mures (14-6) against twelfth ranked Giurgiu (7-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Targu Mures were defeated by Giurgiu in Giurgiu 89-79. The best player for the winners was Perry Petty who scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Andrija Ciric produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the guests. Giurgiu maintains twelfth position with 7-13 record. Loser Targu Mures dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Timisoara and U.Mobitel.CN. Giurgiu will meet higher ranked CSM Bucuresti (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Targu Mures will play against Farul Const. (#14) in Constanca and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 20: Pitesti won against Miercurea Ciuc on the opponent's court 93-81. Gaz Metan managed to outperform Rovinari in a home game 75-71. CSM Bucuresti rolled over Timba Timis. on the road 77-56.



CSU Sibiu - Dinamo B. 110-46

Bottom-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-20) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 20th consecutive match to tenth ranked CSU Sibiu (10-10) 110-46. The game without a history. CSU Sibiu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CS Dinamo Bucuresti to just 7 points in third quarter. CSU Sibiu dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to CS Dinamo Bucuresti's 30 and made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while CS Dinamo Bucuresti only scored four points from the stripe. CSU Sibiu forced 19 CS Dinamo Bucuresti turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 37-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. CSU Sibiu players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by CS Dinamo Bucuresti's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by CS Dinamo Bucuresti helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Miercurea Ciuc - Pitesti 81-93

Rather expected game when 14th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (3-17) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Pitesti (9-11) 93-81. It looked good early as Miercurea Ciuc took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pitesti had a 28-22 second period charge getting the lead and Miercurea Ciuc was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-93. Pitesti shot 61.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Pitesti especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Miercurea Ciuc helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Very important is a road loss of second ranked Targu Mures (14-6) against twelfth ranked Giurgiu (7-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Targu Mures were defeated by Giurgiu in Giurgiu 89-79. The game was mostly controlled by Giurgiu. Targu Mures managed to win second period 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Giurgiu shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) who scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import center Bryson McKenzie (211-83, college: N.Illinois) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Giurgiu players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Andrija Ciric (199-80, agency: BeoExcell) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Giurgiu maintains twelfth position with 7-13 record. Loser Targu Mures dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Timisoara and U.Mobitel.CN. Giurgiu will meet higher ranked CSM Bucuresti (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Targu Mures will play against Farul Const. (#14) in Constanca and hope to secure a win.

Oradea - Targu Mures 71-77 Targu Mures overcame Oradea on the road to even the title series at 1-1. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half.
