The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked ICIM Arad (18-2) on the court of third ranked CSM Targoviste on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by CSM Targoviste 72-61. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of ICIM Arad. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 43-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Ivanka Matic (193-79, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). LBRn point guard Matee Ajavon (170-86, college: Rutgers) contributed with 16 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American forward Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for ICIM Arad. CSM Targoviste (17-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position behind leader ICIM Arad. ICIM Arad at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. CSM Targoviste are looking forward to face Brasov (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. ICIM Arad will play against the league's second-placed Satu Mare (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Oradea is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 19th consecutive match to fifth ranked Alba Iulia (13-6) 132-40. International forward Alexandra Uiuiu (183-89) scored 23 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Zenta Melnika chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Alba Iulia's coach Miroslav Popovic felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Alexandra Vlaicu (178-91) responded with 17 points. Alba Iulia maintains fifth position with 13-6 record. Oradea at the other side still closes the standings with 19 games lost. Alba Iulia will play against Brasov (#8) on the road in the next round. Oradea will play against Cluj Napoca (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. Timisoara beat Cluj Napoca on the road 68-50. Sf.Gheorghe won against Rapid on its own court 88-78. Brasov unfortunately lost to Sp.Studentesc in Bucuresti 74-79. Craiova was rolled over Satu Mare at home 47-68.
The most impressive performance of 22th round was 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by Jasmin Bailey of Sf.Gheorghe.

Cluj Napoca - Timisoara 50-68

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Timisoara (11-8) beat on the road 13th ranked Cluj Napoca (3-14) 68-50. The game was mostly controlled by Timisoara. Cluj Napoca was better in fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Timisoara dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Cluj Napoca's 12. Timisoara forced 22 Cluj Napoca turnovers. Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Tiffany Brown (165-86, college: Georgia South) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals during the contest. At the losing side forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) responded with 17 points and center Andreea Pop (180-90) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Timisoara maintains seventh position with 11-8 record. Cluj Napoca lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Timisoara will play against Targu Mures (#11) at home in the next round. Cluj Napoca will play against Oradea in Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when 12th ranked Rapid (4-15) lost to fourth ranked Sf.Gheorghe (14-5) in Sfantu Gheorghe 78-88. It looked good early as Rapid took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sf.Gheorghe had a 24-21 second period charge getting the lead and Rapid was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-88. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid's 28. They outrebounded Rapid 56-28 including a 43-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Jasmin Bailey (172-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) scored 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Mekia Valentine (193-88, college: UCSB, agency: Merit Sports) chipped in 11 points and 20 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side power forward Raluca Ungureanu (180-80) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Four Rapid players scored in double figures. Sf.Gheorghe have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-5 record. Rapid lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Sf.Gheorghe will play against Craiova (#10) in Craiova in the next round where they are favorite. Alba Iulia forced 41 Oradea turnovers and outrebounded them 35-18 including 23 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Oradea's players. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Sp.Studentesc (9-12) won against 8th ranked Brasov (9-11) in Bucuresti 79-74. Satu Mare forced 25 Craiova turnovers. American forward Utahya Drye (185-88, college: Virginia Tech) scored 10 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Annemarie Parau (170-84) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists during the contest. Coach Dan Fleseriu's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Serbian guard Marija Prlja (163-87) responded with 16 points and the former international center Gabriela Toma (192-74) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Satu Mare have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-3 record having just -1 point less than leader ICIM Arad. Craiova at the other side keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Satu Mare will play against league's leader ICIM Arad on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Craiova will play against Sf.Gheorghe (#4) in Sfantu Gheorghe and hopes to get back on the winning track.
