Perry Petty
American guard Perry Petty (185-G-88) had an amazing evening in the last round for Giurgiu, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds, while his team outclassed Dinamo B. (#16, 1-25) with 39-point margin 101-62. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Giurgiu maintains the 12th position in Romanian Division A. Giurgiu is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-17 record. In the team's last game Petty had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Giurgiu's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Texas-Pan American star has very solid stats this year. Petty is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.3ppg), assists (9th best: 4.2apg) and averages impressive 2.2spg and 54.2% FGP. Worth to mention Petty played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Jeremi Booth (195-G-87) of Farul Const.. Booth had a very good evening with 29 points and 6 rebounds. Of course he lead Farul Const. to another comfortable win 82-63 over the higher-ranked Pitesti (#11, 12-14) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Farul Const. keeps 14th position. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Farul Const. managed to get this year. Booth is a newcomer at Farul Const., but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international center Catalin Burlacu (210-C-77, agency: Court Side) of Ploiesti (#3). Burlacu showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Ploiesti, leading his team to a 89-79 win against the lower-ranked Timisoara (#7, 17-9). Ploiesti needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 7 lost games. Burlacu has a very solid season. In 26 games in Romania he scored 13.7ppg. He also has 6.3rpg and FGP: 57.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Louis Darby (196-G-84) of Rovinari - 26 points and 10 rebounds
5. Goran Martinic (183-PG-87) of CSM Bucuresti - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Rickey Huckaby (188-G-83) of Timba Timis. - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Vladimir Tica (208-C/F-81) of Ploiesti - 20 points and 6 rebounds
8. Jaytornah Wisseh (185-G-88) of Rovinari - 29 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Brian Burrell (192-G-84) of Giurgiu - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Titus Nicoara (203-PF-88) of Gaz Metan - 14 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
