Gran Canaria celebrated 78-67 win last night, but Targoviste goes to the Quarterfinals thanks to 80-55 victory in Game 1. Hosts tried to erase the huge deficit from the first meeting, but fell short. It was pretty leveled beginning. Both teams exchanged baskets for most of the first half. As result, the score stood at 19-18. In the second quarter, hosts opened the period with 9-2 run which was enough to give them first significant lead. They held onto it and at the halftime they were up 42-36. After the break both teams started to struggle somewhat on the offensive end. After a lot of missed shots on both ends of the court, the game entered the final period with Gran Canaria holding onto 53-50. Then in the final 10 minutes, hosts made one last push trying to turn the game. But Targoviste was able to hang onto the aggregate lead. So even after recording 78-67 loss, they could celebrate a passage into the next round. Jaklin Zlatanova (190-F-88) shined for the Spanish outfit with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Aneika Henry (191-C-86, college: Florida) and Patricia Arguello (178-F-87) were also good for hosts with 19 and 17 points.
