Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The most important game in the last round took place in Oradea between second ranked Steaua CSM (11-3) and fifth ranked Oradea (9-6) on Saturday night. Steaua CSM was defeated by Oradea in a tough game on the road 74-81. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-74. Oradea looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. Serbian-Bulgarian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: 011 Sports) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 27 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for Steaua CSM. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oradea have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with CSU Sibiu. Steaua CSM at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Oradea is looking forward to face Craiova (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Steaua CSM will play against Phoenix Galati (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for UBT Cluj Napoca (12-2) which hosted in Cluj Napoca 3rd ranked CSU Sibiu (9-6). First ranked UBT Cluj Napoca managed to get a 11-point victory 91-80. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian Maksym Pustozvonov (200-87) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and Filip Adamovic who added 12 points and 8 assists during the contest. UBT Cluj Napoca's coach Mihai Silvasan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (192-84) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. UBT Cluj Napoca maintains first position with 12-2 record. CSU Sibiu at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Oradea. UBT Cluj Napoca will play against bottom-ranked Olimpic (#11) in Baia Mare in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CSU Sibiu will play at home against CS Dinamo Bucuresti (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Galati between Phoenix Galati and Craiova. Eighth ranked Phoenix Galati (6-9) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Craiova (4-10). Phoenix Galati managed to escape with a 1-point win 83-82 in the fight for the eighth place. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by Tony Gugino who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even 21 points by Jamar Abrams did not help to save the game for Craiova. Craiova's coach Vladimir Vuksanovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Phoenix Galati maintains eighth position with 6-9 record. Loser Craiova keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Phoenix Galati will meet league's second-placed Steaua CSM in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Craiova will play against Oradea (#5) and hope to secure a win.
The game between fourth ranked Pitesti (10-6) and 7th ranked BC Timisoara (8-7) in Pitesti ended with biggest points difference. Pitesti outscored guests from Timisoara 94-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Timisoara. Tomislav Gabric fired 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Pitesti's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pitesti moved-up to third place. BC Timisoara at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Pitesti will have a break next round. BC Timisoara will play at home against Targu Mures (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 16 bottom-ranked Olimpic was beaten by Dinamo B. on the road 87-74.
The most impressive performance of 16th round was 20 points and 11 rebounds by Vincent Hunter of Pitesti.

Pitesti - BC Timisoara 94-73

The game between fourth ranked Pitesti (10-6) and 7th ranked BC Timisoara (8-7) in Pitesti ended with biggest points difference. Pitesti outscored guests from Timisoara 94-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Timisoara. The game without a history. Pitesti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to BC Timisoara's 28. Pitesti players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Croatian Tomislav Gabric (204-95) fired 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Vincent Hunter (209-84, college: Arkansas) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Pitesti players scored in double figures. Pitesti's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest.
