Nikola
Malesevic
Serbian Forward Nikola Malesevic (202-F-89, agency: BeoExcell) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Steaua CSM, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, nine rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Phoenix Galati (#8, 6-10) 94-81. Steaua CSM maintains the 2nd position in Romanian Liga Nationala. They are still close to the very top. Steaua CSM would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-3 record. In the team's last game Malesevic had a remarkable 92.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Steaua CSM and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Nikola Malesevic averages this season 12.4ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 35-year old Serbian Milos Bojovic (198-G/F-81, agency: 011 Sports) of Phoenix Galati. Bojovic had a very good evening with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Phoenix Galati lost that game 81-94 to the higher-ranked Steaua CSM (#2, 12-3). Phoenix Galati is still in a red zone at 8th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. Bojovic is well-known at Phoenix Galati and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.9ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 4.8rpg and 3.6apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Serbian guard Mladen Jeremic (198-G-88, agency: 011 Sports) of BC Timisoara (#6). Jeremic scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was a key player of BC Timisoara, leading his team to a 91-72 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Targu Mures (#7, 8-7). BC Timisoara needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 7 lost games. Jeremic has a great season in Romania. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.2ppg (best scorer). He also has FGP: 54.8% and 3PT: 42.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Martin Zeno (196-G-85) of Oradea - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Cameron Long (193-G-88) of Steaua CSM - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Chris Cooper (205-C/F-90) of CSU Sibiu - 13 points and 16 rebounds
7. Rajko Kljajevic (204-F-85) of Dinamo B. - 16 points and 6 rebounds
8. Ionut Dragusin (221-C-85) of BC Timisoara - 10 points and 10 rebounds
9. Jonte Flowers (196-F/G-85) of BC Timisoara - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Kyndall Dykes (192-SG-87) of UBT Cluj Napoca - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
