Liga Nationala is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left.

Top ranked Targu Mures (9-12) recorded its twelfth loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (6-15) 85-71. The game was mostly controlled by CS Dinamo Bucuresti. Targu Mures managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CS Dinamo Bucuresti made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian forward Danilo Tasic (207-93, agency: 011 Sports) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Bosnian-Serbian guard Marko Sutalo (194-83) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian power forward Dalibor Djapa (205-84, agency: 011 Sports) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. CS Dinamo Bucuresti maintains fourth place in Nationala with 6-15 record. Targu Mures at the other side still keep top position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Galati. Fourth ranked Craiova (6-15) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked Phoenix Galati (7-14) 86-84 on Monday evening. American power forward Christopher Lee (206-85, college: S.Carolina St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Catalin Burlacu contributed with 18 points and 9 assists for the winners. The former international center Adrian Gutoaia (197-90, agency: Court Side) answered with 19 points for Phoenix Galati. Craiova moved-up to third place in Nationala. Phoenix Galati at the other side keeps the second position with 14 games lost. Craiova will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Phoenix Galati will play at home against Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked CSU Sibiu (14-9) against fourth ranked Oradea (13-10) on Saturday night. Visiting CSU Sibiu was defeated by Oradea in Oradea 84-72. Titus Nicoara stepped up and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Chris Cooper responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. CSU Sibiu's coach Dan Fleseriu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains fourth place in Nationala with 13-10 record. Loser CSU Sibiu keeps the third position with nine games lost. Oradea will meet league's second-placed Phoenix Galati on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CSU Sibiu will play against the league's second-placed Steaua CSM in Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Bucuresti. First ranked UBT Cluj Napoca faced second-ranked Steaua CSM. Guests from Cluj Napoca (20-3) defeated host Steaua CSM (14-9) 80-75. Kyndall Dykes nailed 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. UBT Cluj Napoca maintains first place in Nationala with 20-3 record. Steaua CSM at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. UBT Cluj Napoca's next round opponent will be Pitesti (#6) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Steaua CSM will play against CSU Sibiu (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 5 In Nationala Pitesti was crushed by BC Timisoara in a road game 88-67.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Pitesti's (10-13) road loss to fifth ranked BC Timisoara (12-11) 67-88. The game was mostly controlled by BC Timisoara. Pitesti was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian guard Mladen Jeremic (198-88, agency: 011 Sports) nailed 33 points (!!!) for the winning side and Cuban-American center Adrian Diaz (213-93, college: FIU) accounted for 16 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Adrian Tudor (184-85) came up with 12 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Vincent Hunter (209-84, college: Arkansas) added 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Pitesti in the defeat. Four Pitesti players scored in double figures. Pitesti's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. BC Timisoara maintains fifth place in Nationala with 12-11 record. Pitesti at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. BC Timisoara will have a break next round. Pitesti will play on the road against the league's leader UBT Cluj Napoca (#1) and hope to win that game.
