Russia posted a comprehensive win over Latvia in the friendly clash in Moscow. David Blatt team led from start to finish and posted a well-deserved victory at the end. Vitaly Fridzon (195-G-85) led the effort with 13 points.

Latvia adjusted their defense and pulled closer in the second quarter. They outgunned the hosts 17:13 to trail by just three points at halftime. However the third term proved deadly for the visitors. Russia went on a stunning 27:10 rally to clear off. The home team entered the final period enjoying a comfortable 21-point lead. Latvia never recovered and had to surrender at the end. Alexey Zhukanenko (210-F-86) accounted for 11 points. Nikita Kurbanov (202-F-86) added 10 points, while Andrey Vorontsevich (204-C-87) nailed 9 for the winners. Janis Strelnieks (191-G-89) replied with 13 points for Latvia. Rihards Kuksiks (198-G/F-88) netted 12 points in the loss. Latvia will tip off their 2011 EuroBasket Qualifying campaign against Montenegro on the road on Monday. Russia will travel to Cyprus to take part at the international tournament on August 6-8.

Jermaine Anderson (188-G-83, college: Fordham) will play in Russia in the upcoming season. The 27-year-old guard signed a deal with Triumph. Last season Jermaine Anderson played for Cedevita in Croatia. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in the Croatian league. Dragan Labovic (207-C/F-87) will play for Enisey next season. He signed a one year contract with the club. Enisey is coached by Stevan Karadzic who knows Labovic very well. Karadzic thinks that Labovic will be very useful for Krasnoyarsk because he can play both PF and C, scores much (Adriatic League-09 top scorer with 18.0ppg) and overall is a young and perspective player. But new club coach David Blatt wasn't satisfied with Labovic performance, so Dragan was cut off from the roster. In March he landed in Germany and became Bundesliga Finalist with Deutsche Bank Skyliners Frankfurt, averaging 8.6ppg, 3.6rpg, FGP: 49.0%, 3PT: 31.3%, FT: 77.6%. His path with national team was impressive. He became a European Champion U16 in Spain -03 (18,0 ppg, 5,6 rpg, 1,4 spg), won European Championships U18 in Belgrade -05 (14.1ppg, 8.5rpg, 2.3apg, 1.8spg), earned a gold medal at European Championships U20 in Nova Gorica -07 (16.9ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.0apg, 1.3bpg) and was selected into the main team at European Championships in Spain -07 (1.3ppg, 1.3rpg). During his club career his awards also were Adriatic League Finalist -07 and Serbia and Montenegro Cup Winner -05.
