More news are coming from UMMC Ekaterinburg. The Russian champ confirmed that Sue Bird (175-G-80, college: Connecticut) and Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-SG-83) will return to the club next season. Bird will most probably join in January, like she did for the last three years with Ekaterinburg and Spartak Vidnoe MR. Svetlana Abrosimova and very likely Tatiana Vidmer will not be on the team next season. Sue Bird joined started to play for Ekaterinburg last January. She averaged 10.1 points, 2.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds for 9 Euroleague games. Bird also added 8.4 ppg, 4.8 apg and 1.4 rpg in 14 Russian league games. Anete Jekabsone-Zogota joined Ekaterinburg last summer. She had 11.2 ppg, 3 rpg and 2.1 apg for 13 Euroleague games. In Russia, she added 13.9 ppg, 2.3 rpg and 3.9 apg for 9 games. Jekabsone-Zogota got seriously injured in January during the game against Ros Casares (left knee, torn ACL) and she missed rest of the season.

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Russian players, who play currently abroad. Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-C-89) led Basketball Nymburk to a surprising victory over the second-ranked Valosun Brno in the Czech Republic ZBL in Thursday night's game.

#1. This week's number one is former international guard Valeriya Musina (183-87, college: Lee, currently plays in Poland). Musina led CCC Polkowice to a victory over the league leader Sleza Wroclaw (18-4) 65-60 in the Polish TBLK last Saturday.
She was MVP of the game. Musina scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
CCC Polkowice (14-8) is placed fifth in the TBLK.
It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row.
It's Musina's seventh season with the team.
This year she averages: 9.2ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 44.3%, 3FGP: 28.5% and FT: 60.9%.
Musina played for the Russian senior national team three years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Raisa Musina (191-98, currently plays in Poland) is a teammate of previously mentioned Valeriya Musina. But that was another game of her team in Polish TBLK which we would like to mention.
Musina. She could not help CCC Polkowice (14-8) to beat Sleza Wroclaw (18-4).
Musina was the second best scorer with 9 points.
But CCC Polkowice was badly defeated 71-52 at home by the leading Sleza Wroclaw.
It's Musina's first season with the team.
Her overall stats this year are: 9.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 40.1%, 3FGP: 42.2% and FT: 74.7%.
Musina is in the roster of the Russian senior national team.
#3. The Russian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Marina Bas (195-85, currently plays in Turkey). She was not able to help Osmaniye (5-20) in their last game. Despite Bas' very good performance the bottom-ranked Osmaniye lost 70-76 on their home court in Osmaniye to the higher-ranked (#12) Mersin MBK.
She was the top scorer with 19 points in 40 minutes.
It was Osmaniye's fifth consecutive loss in a row.
Bas' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Bas has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 16.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.0apg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 43.3%, 3FGP: 41.0% and FT: 78.0% in 15 games she played so far.
Bas played for the Russian national team two years ago.
#4. Power forward Elena Reshetko (184-86, currently plays in Finland) was not able to secure a victory for Catz Lappeenranta (19-8) in their game against Espoo Utd (17-10) in the Finnish SM-sarja.
She scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Catz Lappeenranta was defeated 72-62 on the road by the lower-ranked Espoo Utd (#3).
Reshetko is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her 12th year in Catz Lappeenranta's roster.
This season Reshetko has very high stats. She averages: 16.6ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg.
Reshetko used to play for the Russian U21 national team
back in 2007.
#5. Former University international forward Tatiana Grigoryeva (178-90, currently plays in Kazakhstan) couldn't help Okzhetpes (3-9) in their last game on Friday. Despite her very good performance the bottom-ranked Okzhetpes was crushed 100-61 on their home court in Kokshetay by the leading Astana Tigers.
Grigoryeva was the top scorer with 39 points. She also added 5 rebounds.
This season Grigoryeva has very high stats. She averages: 23.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 3.8apg and 2.9spg.
Grigoryeva used to play for the Russian university national team
four years ago.

DSK Basketball Nymburk (16-6) is placed eighth in Play-Offs group.
It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row.
Khomenchuk has relatively good stats this year: 11.2ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.5apg and 2.2bpg in 29 games she played so far.
She has a dual citizenship: Russian and Ukrainian.
#2.Annie Tarakchian (182-F-94, agency: LBM Management, college: Princeton, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Sint Kateline Waver (16-6) crushing them 97-52 in the Belgian Top Division Women on Sunday night.
She recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Royal Castors Braine (22-0) is placed first in the Top Division Women.
So far her team won all twenty two games in the Semi-Finals.
Tarakchian has relatively good stats this year: 12.2ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.6apg and 2.1spg in 10 games.
She is a naturalized American.
Strangely Tarakchian has never played in Russia.
#3.Natalia Merkulova (175-G/F-91, college: SUNO, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in Ilrija's victory against the fifth-ranked Maribor (4-15) 86-76 in the Slovenian SKL on Wednesday night.
She recorded 13 points.
KED Panter Ilirija Ljubljana (12-8) is placed third in Places 1-6 group.
Merkulova's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And that game will be critical.
Merkulova's overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.5apg.
#4.Victoria Mazur (164-PG-92, currently plays in Lithuania). She could not help Suduva (22-2) to beat Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (14-10). Mazur cannot count it as her best performance.
She scored only 2 points in 10 minutes.
The league leader Suduva lost 62-72 on the road to the lower-ranked (#3) Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas.
This year Mazur's overall stats are: 2.7ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.4apg in 12 games.
#5.Yuliya Rytsikava (181-F-86, also represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Belarus) was not able to help Gorizont (15-3) in their last game. Despite her very good performance the first-placed Gorizont (15-3) lost 55-60 in a derby game to the much lower-ranked (#10) Tsmoki-Minsk in the Places 1-4 group.
Rytsikava was the top scorer with 21 points. She also added 7 rebounds in 34 minutes.
Rytsikava has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 17.4ppg, 4.6rpg, 2.6apg and 2.5spg in 24 games.
Rytsikava is another player who holds two passports: Russian and Belarusian.
#6.Darya Panasiuk (190-C-88, currently plays in Kazakhstan) was not able to secure a victory for Okzhetpes in their game against Astana Tigers in the Kazakhstan D1.
She scored 7 points in 20 minutes.
Her team was crushed by 36 points 88-52.
Panasiuk has relatively good stats this year: 11.8ppg, 6.6rpg, 2.6apg and 1.6spg in 14 games.

Neftyanik upset Rostov on the road to advance into Superleague 1 Finals. Neftyanik forced 21 BC Rostov turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Yana Panevina (167-91) who scored 18 points. Guard Elena Elgina (170-87) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Neftyanik players scored in double figures. Neftyanik's coach Elena Lazutkina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.
