Russia outscore South Korea in the opener of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The European favorites did not have any difficulties reaching 91:56 win.
Russia grabbed the lead from the very beginning and reached 27:16 after the first period. Timofey Mozgov (216-C-86, agency: Ryzhov Stanislav) closed the period with a jump shot for 11-point lead at the end of the frame. Andrei Kirilenko (205-F-81) brought 33:18, while Sasha Kaun (211-C-85) closed the run at 38:18. Sekeun Oh reduced to 44:22, while Sunhyung Kim was the last to score at the half for 45:26.
Timofey Mozgov opened the third period for 47:26 and he actually scored another four points for the Russian squad. South Korea managed to cut it to 51:32, while Taesul Kim scored for 54:33. Sasha Kaun, Khryapa and Andrei Kirilenko delivered for 61:35 with 3 minutes to go in the third period. Fridzon and Timofey Mozgov scored for 67:40 and then Jinsoo Choi closed the third period at 67:42.
Sergey Monya (203-F-83) nailed three in the start of the last stanza to bring his team 70:43. Russia looked better in every aspect of the game and reached 91:56 win at the end.
Andrei Kirilenko paced all the winners with 16 points, while Sergey Monya nailed 14. Timofey Mozgov and Sasha Kaun followed them with 12 points each. Lee Jung-Hyun (190-F-87) responded with 15 and Yang Hee-Jong (194-F-84) had 9.

Ourense Termal (LEB Gold) added to their roster 32-year old naturalized Russian power forward Dmitriy Flis (204-100kg-84). He played last season at ICL Manresa (Liga Endesa). In 30 games he recorded 5.3ppg and 2.1rpg. LEB Gold will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. BC Khimky Moscow Region (VTB) signed 33-year old Bulgarian point guard Earl Rowland (188-86kg-83, college: St.Mary's, CA). He is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Rowland played last season at Hapoel Jerusalem in Israeli Winner League. In 40 games he had 11.7ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.9apg and 1.5spg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Aleksey Tsvetkov agreed terms with Irkutsk - 1 day ago

BC Irkut Irkutsk (Superleague 1) inked 32-year old power forward Aleksey Tsvetkov (207-104kg-84) from Kupol-Rodniki Izhevsk. In 24 Superleague 1 games he recorded 8.4ppg and 5.0rpg last season.
