It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Superlaegue, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The biggest surprise of round 6 took place in Surgutguest Ataman (#1) beat lower ranked Universitet-Yugra (#2) by 11 points 96-85 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Ataman. Universitet-Yugra managed to win second period 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ataman looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Pavel Aleksandrov (196-89) who scored 21 points and 6 assists. Forward Aleksandr Pavlov (201-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American) who recorded 21 points and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ataman maintains first position with 5-1 record. Universitet-Yugra at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Ruskon-Mord.. Ataman are looking forward to face Volgograd (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Universitet-Yugra will play against Rjazan (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (3-2) against ninth ranked AltajBasket (3-3) on Friday night. Host Ural Ekaterinburg was defeated by AltajBasket in Ekaterinburg 71-61. It was a good game for guard Sergey Chernov (187-86) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Evgeny Dedovets contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. AltajBasket's coach Aleksandr Rachenkov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds for Ural Ekaterinburg. AltajBasket moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ural Ekaterinburg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. AltajBasket will play against Severstal (#11) in Cherepovec in the next round. Ural Ekaterinburg will play on the road against Planeta-Univ. (#7) in Ukhta and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Planeta-Univ. (3-2) against eighth ranked Novosybirsk (3-2) on Wednesday night. Visiting Planeta-Univ. was defeated by Novosybirsk in a tough game in Novosybirsk 66-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Planeta-Univ.. Pavel Zakamov scored 25 points to lead the charge for the winners. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Sergey Oveshkov with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Novosybirsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Planeta-Univ. Novosybirsk will meet bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Planeta-Univ. will play against Ural Ekaterinburg (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Spartak Vidnoye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Avtodor's next round opponent will be higher ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#5) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against Novosybirsk (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
Important game to mention about took place in . Eighth ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (4-2) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 14th ranked Volgograd (1-5) 71-68 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Marius Valukonis who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Ruskon-Mordovia moved-up to second place, which they share with Univ.Surgut. Loser Volgograd keeps the fourteenth position with five games lost. Ruskon-Mordovia will face Dynamo Moscow (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volgograd will play against the league's leader Ataman (#1) in Rostov.

In the last two games of round 6 Severstal was crushed by Dynamo MO in Moscow 86-61. Rjazan beat Sojuz Zaretchny at home 85-79.
The best stats of 6th round was 23 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists by Nikita Stepanenkov of Rjazan.


Ural Ekaterinb. - AltajBasket 61-71

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (3-2) against ninth ranked AltajBasket (3-3) on Friday night. Host Ural Ekaterinburg was defeated by AltajBasket in Ekaterinburg 71-61. Ural Ekaterinburg was ahead by 8 points at the halftime before a 38-20 second half run of AltajBasket. They also forced 19 Ural Ekaterinburg turnovers. It was a good game for guard Sergey Chernov (187-86) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Evgeny Dedovets (195-90) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. There was a minor upset when higher ranked Severstal (3-3) was crushed on the road by twelfth ranked Dynamo Moscow (3-3) 86-61 on Friday. The game without a history. Dynamo Moscow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Severstal to just 4 points in second quarter. Dynamo Moscow forced 22 Severstal turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 26 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Aleksei Savkov (196-79, agency: Alti Sport) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Evgeny Karpeko (204-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Dynamo Moscow players scored in double figures. Dynamo Moscow's coach Aleksandr Afanasaev felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. But Sojuz Zaretchny won second period 28-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rjazan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sojuz Zaretchny's 38. Rjazan forced 21 Sojuz Zaretchny turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Nikita Stepanenkov (208-87) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Aleksei Vzdykhalkin (190-85, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Denis Novikov (200-85) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Nikolay Zhmako (196-89) added 16 points respectively. Four Rjazan and five Sojuz Zaretchny players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Rjazan (3-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Sojuz Zaretchny dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Rjazan will face higher ranked Universitet-Yugra (#3) in Surgut in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Planeta-Univ. (3-2) against eighth ranked Novosybirsk (3-2) on Wednesday night. Visiting Planeta-Univ. was defeated by Novosybirsk in a tough game in Novosybirsk 66-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Planeta-Univ.. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-66. Novosybirsk forced 21 Planeta-Univ. turnovers. Swingman Pavel Zakamov (192-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 25 points to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Kazakhstan Stanislav Makshantsev (205-78, college: Furman) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was center Sergey Oveshkov (215-85) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Aleksandr Amelin (184-88) scored 17 points. Novosybirsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Planeta-Univ. Novosybirsk will meet bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Planeta-Univ. will play against Ural Ekaterinburg (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
