The biggest surprise of round 7 was guest Ural Ekaterinburg's (4-2) easy road victory over Planeta-Univ. (#6) 94-74 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Ural Ekaterinburg. Planeta-Univ. managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) fired 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Oleg Baranov (202-82, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Power forward Aleksandr Zaykin (208-84) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ural Ekaterinburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Novosybirsk. Newly promoted Planeta-Univ. dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with TEMP-SUMZ and Avtodor. Ural Ekaterinburg is looking forward to face Severstal (#12) in Cherepovec in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Planeta-Univ. will play at home against Spartak Vidnoye (#15) in Moscow and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Leader Ataman delivered the sixth victory. This time they crushed 14th ranked Volgograd (1-6) 81-61 in Rostov. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Pavel Aleksandrov (196-89) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. Ivan Pavlov contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Ukrainian guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) answered with 16 points for Volgograd. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ataman maintains first place with 6-1 record. Volgograd lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. Ataman will play against Dynamo Moscow (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volgograd will play against Rjazan (#11) to get more than just one victory in their record.
Bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-64 loss to fourth ranked Novosybirsk (4-2) in Moscow on Friday evening. Avtodor - TEMP-SUMZ 82-75

There was a surprise result in Saratov where twelfth ranked Avtodor (3-3) beat higher ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (3-3) 82-75 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TEMP-SUMZ Revda won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avtodor made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for power forward Alexander Lavnikov (205-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Andrey Petukhov (207-86) helped adding 19 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side center Aleksey Komarov (206-81) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and guard Dmitriy Kachanko (200-86) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Avtodor and four TEMP-SUMZ Revda players scored in double figures. TEMP-SUMZ Revda's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Avtodor moved-up to seventh place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and Planeta-Univ. Avtodor will meet Sojuz Zaretchny (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. TEMP-SUMZ Revda will play against Novosybirsk (#4) and hope to secure a win.
