The most exciting game of round 7 in the PBL took place in Lubertsy. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (2-2) to sixth ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (3-2) 64-62 on Sunday evening. Triumph Lyubertsy made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for international Sergey Karasev (202-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Tasmin Mitchell (201-86, college: LSU, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side Greek center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Triumph Lyubertsy moved-up to third place. Spartak St.Petersburg at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Triumph Lyubertsy are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spartak St.Petersburg will have a break next round.
PBL top team - CSKA Moscow (4-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Unics Kazan (1-2) 79-64. It was a quality performance for American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) who led the winners and scored 18 points. Viktor Khryapa accounted for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Chuck Eidson (203-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with 20 points (made all of his eight free throws) for Unics Kazan in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSKA Moscow have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 4-0 record. Unics Kazan at the other side keeps the eighth position with two games lost. CSKA Moscow will play against Lokomotiv (#4) in Kuban in the next round. Unics Kazan will play on the road against Krasnie Krilya (#5) in Samara to get more than just one victory in their record.

Khimky - Spartak-Prim. 95-70

Leader Khimky (3-0) crushed at home 7th ranked Spartak-Prim. (2-3) by 25 points 95-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-70. Khimky looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Spartak-Prim.'s players. American guard K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson) fired 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. International guard Vitaliy Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 17 points. American point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (197-84, college: CS Northridge) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Five Khimky and four Spartak-Prim. players scored in double figures. Kupol-Rodniki Izhevsk (Superleague 1) added to their roster 27-year old center Aleksey Karpeko (204-98kg-89) from Ural Ekaterinburg. Yerevan Urartu basketball club the core of which will mainly be the players of the Armenia national team main will take part in the Russian Super League-1 in October 2016, ANOC press service informs. BC Khimky Moscow Region (VTB) inked 29-year old American swingman Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports). He played most recently at Bucaneros in Venezuelan LPB league. Carter managed to play in five leagues in three countries last year (!!!). In 14 LPB games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.1ppg, 5.6rpg, 2.1apg and 1.4spg.
