The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ataman (7-2) in Rostov on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked AltajBasket (6-3) 63-54. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ataman. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-54. AltajBasket dominated on the defensive end, holding Ataman to just 7 points in third quarter. They held Ataman to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Forward Alexander Lunev (201-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Sergey Chernov (187-86) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Forward Dmitri Nikolaev (200-83) nailed 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Alimdzhan Fedyushin accounted for 20 points.
