The most exciting game of round 14 in the Superlaegue took place in Ekaterinburg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Rjazan (8-6) to second ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (11-2) 76-73 on Friday evening. Rjazan was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-19 charge of Ural Ekaterinburg, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ural Ekaterinburg made 8 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Rjazan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) who scored 29 points and 4 blocks. The other American import power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Aleksey Kirjanov (206-81) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ural Ekaterinburg have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Univ.Surgut. Rjazan at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Ural Ekaterinburg is looking forward to face league's leader Universitet-Yugra in Surgut in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rjazan will have a break next round.
Leader Universitet-Yugra delivered the eleventh victory. This time they beat 14th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (2-11) 89-72. Guard Anton Ageev (192-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Denis Hloponin contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Denis Novikov (200-85) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds for Sojuz Zaretchny. Sojuz Zaretchny's coach Sergey Mostovschikov rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Universitet-Yugra (11-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Ural Ekaterinb. Sojuz Zaretchny lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 11 games lost. Universitet-Yugra will play against league's second-placed Ural Ekaterinburg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sojuz Zaretchny will play against Volgograd (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Cherepovec. Local Severstal (3-10) was outscored by fourth ranked Novosybirsk (9-4) 105-72 on Friday night. Stanislav Makshantsev had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kirill Baklenev responded with 18 points and 4 assists. Novosybirsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Ataman. Severstal lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Novosybirsk will meet at home Ruskon-Mordovia (#6) in the next round. Severstal will play against Planeta-Univ. (#11) in Ukhta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Moscow: Dynamo Moscow (#10) and Spartak Vidnoye (#15). Spartak Vidnoye was smashed at home by 16 points 64-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Nikita Morgunov notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dynamo Moscow (6-7) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Avtodor. Spartak Vidnoye lost third consecutive game. Spartak Vidnoye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Dynamo Moscow's next round opponent will be higher ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#8) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against AltajBasket (#5) in Barnau.

Rest of the games of round 14 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Volgograd was defeated by TEMP-SUMZ in Revda 90-77. Ruskon-Mord. beat Avtodor at home 74-59. AltajBasket won against Planeta-Univ. on the opponent's court 77-67.


Sojuz Zaretchny - Univ.Surgut 72-89

Leader Universitet-Yugra delivered the eleventh victory. This time they beat 14th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (2-11) 89-72. Universitet-Yugra made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Sojuz Zaretchny turnovers. Sojuz Zaretchny was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Anton Ageev (192-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Forward Denis Hloponin (206-81) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Denis Novikov (200-85) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Vyacheslav Sleta (205-89) added 15 points in the effort for Sojuz Zaretchny. Spartak V. - Dynamo MO 64-80

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Moscow: Dynamo Moscow (#10) and Spartak Vidnoye (#15). Spartak Vidnoye was smashed at home by 16 points 64-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo Moscow. Spartak Vidnoye was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Spartak Vidnoye to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Dynamo Moscow dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Vidnoye's 20. It was a great shooting night for Dynamo Moscow especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The former international forward Nikita Morgunov (210-75, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and forward Aleksei Karpeko (194-89) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by forward Vladislav Trushkin (201-93) did not help to save the game for Spartak Vidnoye. Swingman Gleb Goldyrev (200-93) added 14 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dynamo Moscow (6-7) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Avtodor. Spartak Vidnoye lost third consecutive game. There was no surprise when 12th ranked Volgograd (4-9) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (7-6) 90-77. The game was mostly controlled by TEMP-SUMZ Revda. Volgograd was better in third quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TEMP-SUMZ Revda made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Volgograd turnovers. Strangely Volgograd outrebounded TEMP-SUMZ Revda 38-25 including a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Vitaly Kuznetsov (196-88) notched 25 points to lead the effort and guard Dmitriy Kachanko (200-86) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by Ukrainian guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) did not help to save the game for Volgograd. Center Andrey Voron (208-87) added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Four TEMP-SUMZ Revda and five Volgograd players scored in double figures. The game with biggest result difference took place in Cherepovec. Local Severstal (3-10) was outscored by fourth ranked Novosybirsk (9-4) 105-72 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Novosybirsk. Severstal managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Severstal 45-27 including a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Novosybirsk shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized Kazakhstan Stanislav Makshantsev (205-78, college: Furman) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Aleksandr Anisimov (186-86, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 14 points and 9 assists during the contest. Five Novosybirsk players scored in double figures. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Kirill Baklenev (184-88) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and guard Andrey Borisov (187-89) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Novosybirsk have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Ataman. Severstal lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with ten games lost. The most exciting game of round 14 in the Superlaegue took place in Ekaterinburg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Rjazan (8-6) to second ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (11-2) 76-73 on Friday evening. Rjazan was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-19 charge of Ural Ekaterinburg, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ural Ekaterinburg made 8 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Rjazan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) who scored 29 points and 4 blocks. The other American import power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Aleksey Kirjanov (206-81) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Aleksei Vzdykhalkin (190-85, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Rjazan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ural Ekaterinburg have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Univ.Surgut. Rjazan at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Ural Ekaterinburg is looking forward to face league's leader Universitet-Yugra in Surgut in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rjazan will have a break next round.
