The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

An interesting game for Novosybirsk (11-4) which played road game in Rostov against one of their biggest challengers Ataman (9-6). Third ranked Novosybirsk managed to get a 5-point victory 90-85. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Novosybirsk shot 60.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Novosybirsk especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sergei Tokarev (190-85) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 assists. Center Pavel Podkolzin (226-85) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Amiran Amirkhanov (187-86) replied with 20 points and 8 assists for Ataman. Ataman's coach Boris Livanov tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Novosybirsk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Novosybirsk maintains third position with 11-4 record having just -8 point less than leader Univ.Surgut. Ataman lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Rjazan and Ruskon-Mord.. Novosybirsk are looking forward to face Rjazan (#5) at home in the next round. Ataman will play against Planeta-Univ. in Ukhta and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
Bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Spartak Vidnoye won against thirteenth-ranked Severstal in Moscow 71-65. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Denis Zakharov (193-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and Gleb Goldyrev who added 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side swingman Pavel Zhukanenko (194-86) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Spartak Vidnoye (3-12) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Severstal and Sojuz Zaretchny. Severstal lost tenth consecutive game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against higher ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (#4) in Saransk in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Severstal will play at home against TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Universitet-Yugra's coach Sergei Olhov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Artem Komissarov did not help to save the game for Volgograd. Universitet-Yugra have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-2 record. Volgograd lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Universitet-Yugra will meet Dynamo Moscow (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Volgograd will play against the league's second-placed Ural Ekaterinburg and hope to secure a win.

Important game to mention about took place in Rjazan. Sixth ranked Rjazan (9-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 10th ranked Avtodor (7-8) 78-76 on Friday evening. It was a very good performance for Aleksei Vzdykhalkin who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Avtodor's coach Yuriy Zhukanenko let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rjazan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ruskon-Mord. and Ataman. Newly promoted Avtodor keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Rjazan will face higher ranked Novosybirsk (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Dynamo MO beat Sojuz Zaretchny on the road 73-66. TEMP-SUMZ won against AltajBasket on its own court 88-72. Planeta-Univ. was outscored by Ruskon-Mord. in Saransk 105-64.


Avtodor - Ataman 102-100

A very interesting game took place in Saratov. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Ataman (9-6) to tenth ranked Avtodor (7-8) 102-100 on Monday evening. Avtodor forced 22 Ataman turnovers. Strangely Ataman outrebounded Avtodor 46-32 including 29 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Ataman helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Aleksandr Karpukhin (191-90) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Andrey Mateyunas (180-88) chipped in 15 points and 9 assists. Center Denis Beliaev (201-77, agency: Alti Sport) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and Alexei Nesterov (204-88) added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Ataman players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Avtodor maintains tenth position with 7-8 record. Ataman lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Avtodor will have a break next round. Ataman will play on the road against Planeta-Univ. (#11) in Ukhta.

Spartak V. - Severstal 71-65

Bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Spartak Vidnoye won against thirteenth-ranked Severstal in Moscow 71-65. It looked good early as Severstal took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Spartak Vidnoye had a 18-13 second period charge getting the lead and Severstal was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-71. Spartak Vidnoye forced 21 Severstal turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Denis Zakharov (193-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Gleb Goldyrev (200-93) who added 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side swingman Pavel Zhukanenko (194-86) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Kirill Baklenev (184-88) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Univ.Surgut - Volgograd 91-68

Superlaegue top team - Universitet-Yugra (13-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Volgograd (4-11) in Surgut 91-68. The game was mostly controlled by Universitet-Yugra. Volgograd managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Universitet-Yugra dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Volgograd's 32 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Universitet-Yugra forced 23 Volgograd turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Sojuz Zaretchny - Dynamo MO 66-73

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Dynamo Moscow (8-7) beat on the road 14th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (3-12) 73-66 on Friday. Sojuz Zaretchny trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 19-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-73 at the end of the game. Dynamo Moscow outrebounded Sojuz Zaretchny 44-30 including a 35-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Dynamo Moscow especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Sojuz Zaretchny was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Nikita Morgunov (210-75, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Aleksei Karpeko (194-89) contributed with 7 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Belarusian guard Maksim Shustau (188-86) replied with 18 points and forward Denis Novikov (200-85) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sojuz Zaretchny. Four Sojuz Zaretchny players scored in double figures. Sojuz Zaretchny's coach Sergey Mostovschikov let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dynamo Moscow have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and AltajBasket. Sojuz Zaretchny at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Dynamo Moscow will face league's leader Universitet-Yugra in Surgut in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. There was a minor upset when 7th ranked AltajBasket (8-7) lost on the road to ninth ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (8-7) 88-72 on Friday. TEMP-SUMZ Revda made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 AltajBasket turnovers. It was a great shooting night for TEMP-SUMZ Revda especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for center Aleksey Komarov (206-81) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Maksim Baranov (192-82) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Sergey Varlamov (209-84) replied with 17 points and 9 rebounds and guard Sergey Chernov (187-86) added 16 points in the effort for AltajBasket. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TEMP-SUMZ Revda moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dynamo MO and AltajBasket. TEMP-SUMZ Revda will face Severstal (#13) in Cherepovec in the next round where they are favorite.

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (9-6) rolled over 11th ranked Planeta-Univ. (6-9) in Saransk 105-64 on Friday. The game without a history. Ruskon-Mordovia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for power forward Alexei Kuznetsov (203-84) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Stanislav Sotnikov (200-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward James Ellisor (195-90, college: Bemidji St.) replied with 13 points and power forward Aleksandr Zaykin (208-84) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Planeta-Univ.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Planeta-Univ.'s coach Alexander Gutorov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ruskon-Mordovia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rjazan and Ataman. Newly promoted Planeta-Univ. keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Ruskon-Mordovia will face bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (#15) in Moscow in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Planeta-Univ. will play at home against Ataman (#6) in Rostov.

An interesting game for Novosybirsk (11-4) which played road game in Rostov against one of their biggest challengers Ataman (9-6). Third ranked Novosybirsk managed to get a 5-point victory 90-85. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Novosybirsk shot 60.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Novosybirsk especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sergei Tokarev (190-85) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 assists. Center Pavel Podkolzin (226-85) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Amiran Amirkhanov (187-86) replied with 20 points and 8 assists and guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) added 17 points in the effort for Ataman. Four Ataman players scored in double figures. Ataman's coach Boris Livanov tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Novosybirsk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Novosybirsk maintains third position with 11-4 record having just -8 point less than leader Univ.Surgut. Ataman lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Rjazan and Ruskon-Mord.. Novosybirsk are looking forward to face Rjazan (#5) at home in the next round. Ataman will play against Planeta-Univ. in Ukhta and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
