The most exciting game of round 17 in the Superlaegue took place in Novosybirsk. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Rjazan (9-7) to third ranked Novosybirsk (12-4) 68-66 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-66. Guard Aleksandr Anisimov (186-86, agency: Alti Sport) stepped up and scored 10 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Vladimir Pronin (204-75) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Aleksei Vzdykhalkin (190-85, agency: Interperformances) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Novosybirsk have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Rjazan at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with AltajBasket. Novosybirsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rjazan will play at home against Planeta-Univ. (#11) in Ukhta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Superlaegue top team - Universitet-Yugra (14-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Dynamo Moscow (8-8) 62-53. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dynamo Moscow. Lithuanian point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American) nailed 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Ilia Aleksandrov accounted for 16 points. Universitet-Yugra's coach Sergei Olhov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Gleb Plotnikov (190-91, agency: Interperformances) came up with 12 points for Dynamo Moscow in the defeat. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Universitet-Yugra. They maintain first place with 14-2 record. Newly promoted Dynamo Moscow dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with TEMP-SUMZ. Universitet-Yugra will play against AltajBasket (#7) in Barnau in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dynamo Moscow will play on the road against Volgograd and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The best player for the winners was Artem Pisarchuk who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ivan Pavlov produced 15 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Severstal maintains thirteenth place with 4-12 record. Loser TEMP-SUMZ Revda keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Dynamo MO. Severstal will meet Sojuz Zaretchny (#14) on the road in the next round. TEMP-SUMZ Revda will play against Ruskon-Mordovia (#5) in Saransk and hope to secure a win.

Pavel Agapov orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Ataman's coach Boris Livanov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ataman maintains fourth place with 10-6 record, which they share with Ruskon-Mord. Newly promoted Planeta-Univ. keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Ataman's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Spartak Vidnoye (#15) in Moscow which should be an easy win for them. Planeta-Univ. will play on the road against Rjazan (#6).

In the last two games of round 17 Ruskon-Mord. won against Spartak V. on the opponent's court 67-59. AltajBasket managed to outperform Sojuz Zaretchny in a home game 76-64.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 29 points by Sergey Chernov of AltajBasket.



Spartak V. - Ruskon-Mord. 59-67

Very expected game in Moscow where 14th ranked Spartak Vidnoye (3-13) was defeated by fifth ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (10-6) 67-59. The guests were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 26-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Power forward Alexei Kuznetsov (203-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Fedor Klyuchnikov (192-90) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Ruskon-Mordovia players scored in double figures. Forward Vladislav Trushkin (201-93) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Andrey Chernysh (212-90) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Spartak Vidnoye. Spartak Vidnoye's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ruskon-Mordovia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ataman. Newly promoted Spartak Vidnoye dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. Ruskon-Mordovia's next round opponent will be TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#9) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against Ataman (#4) in Rostov.

An interesting game took place in Cherepovec where higher ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (8-8) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked Severstal (4-12) 62-53 on Saturday. TEMP-SUMZ Revda trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 22-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 53-62 at the end of the game. Severstal dominated on the defensive end, holding TEMP-SUMZ Revda to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded TEMP-SUMZ Revda 44-33 including a 37-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Artem Pisarchuk (205-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Very predictable result in Barnau where eighth ranked AltajBasket (9-7) defeated 14th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (3-13) 76-64. The game was mostly controlled by AltajBasket. Sojuz Zaretchny was better in third quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
