American forward Glory Johnson (190-F-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Chevakata, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12. The 22-year old player had a double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds, while her team crushed Rostov (#10, 1-11) with 16-point margin 71-55. Chevakata maintains the 6th position in Russian PBL. Chevakata is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-6 record. Johnson turned to be Chevakata's top player in her first season with the team. Former University of Tennessee star has very solid stats this year. Johnson. Johnson is in league's top in points (5th best: 14.9ppg) and assists (3rd best: 1.4apg).
The second best player in last round's games was 35-year old American point guard Becky Hammon (175-PG-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas) of Spartak V MR. Hammon had a very good evening with a double-double of 20 points and 13 assists. Of course she lead Spartak V MR to another comfortable win 87-71 over slightly higher-ranked Dynamo M. (#2, 9-3) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Spartak V MR consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 8-3 record is not bad at all. Hammon is a newcomer at Spartak V MR, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was former international center Tatiana Vidmer (191-C-86) of league's second-best Dynamo M.. Vidmer scored 20 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Vidmer's great performance Dynamo M. lost 71-87 to #3 ranked Spartak V MR. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Vidmer has a great season in Russia. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (3rd best).
