Chamberlain
Oguchi
Spartak Primorie Vladivostok (PBL) agreed terms with 27-year old Nigerian international shooting guard Chamberlain Oguchi (198-86, college: Illinois State). He just played at Maine Red Claws (D-League) in the U.S.. In 24 games this season he had 9.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.4apg. Oguchi ended the last season at Meralco Bolts (PBA) in Filipino league. In four games he recorded very impressive stats: 20.3ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.8apg. But the most of that year he spent at Panteras (LPB) in Venezuelan league. In 21 games he recorded 13.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.6apg. Quite impressive season as he was named to Venezuelan LPB All-Star Game. Oguchi also played at Duhok (D1) in Iraqi league earlier that season. The other team he played that season for was Hoops Club (Division A) in Lebanese league. In 11 games last year he recorded also great stats: 23.3ppg, 7.9rpg, 4.6apg and 1.6spg.
Three years ago (a year after he left the college) Oguchi was drafted by the Maine Red Claws (D-League) in second round (14th overall).
He attended Illinois State until 2009 and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as Oguchi played in the final of MVC Tournament in 2009. He was also voted MVC Newcomer of the Year back in 2009 at his college time. Oguchi represented Nigeria at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 12.3ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.3apg, FGP: 25.0%, 3PT: 47.6%, FT: 84.6%.
Oguchi has played also professionally in France (STB Le Havre).
On Oguchi: Long and athletic explosive scorer, Dangerous three point threat. Has no conscience whatsoever -- for better or for worse -- and will hoist up shots instantaneously if you give him an inch of daylight. Excellent coming off screens thanks to his heady off the ball movement and possesses very nice elevation on his jump-shot complimented by a lightning quick release, a pretty follow through and the excellent elevation he gets off the floor.
