Jelena Reshetko's double-double lands her Player of the Week award among Russians playing currently abroad - Feb 3, 2013

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Russian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former U21 international power forward Jelena Reshetko (184-86, currently plays in Finland). She led Catz Lappeenranta to a victory over the closely-ranked Honka (13-8) crushing them 87-65 in the Finnish SM-sarja in Sunday night's game. Reshetko was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 38 points and getting 10 rebounds. Reshetko also added 4 blocks in 30 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Catz Lappeenranta (20-2) is placed first in the SM-sarja. It was her team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Reshetko's eighth season with the team. She has individually a very good year with high stats. Reshetko averages: 16.9ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.8apg, 1.2bpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 63.7%(137-215) and FT: 77.1% in the 21 games she played so far. She played for the Russian U21 national team six years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Irina Osipova (196-81, currently plays in Turkey). Osipova was the major contributor in an Istanbul Universitesi's victory against the league outsider Edremit (1-15) 83-68 in the Turkish TKBL last Sunday. She recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 12 rebounds. Osipova also added 3 assists and 3 steals (made all of her six free throws). Istanbul Universitesi SK (8-8) is placed sixth in the TKBL. It's Osipova's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 10.7ppg, 8.7rpg, 2.2apg, 1.3spg and FT: 78.4%. Osipova is in the roster of the Russian senior national team.

   #3. The Russian player who performed third best last week abroad was U20 international power forward Ksenia Tikhonenko (193-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, currently plays in Romania). Tikhonenko contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Sp.Studentesc (8-11) crushing them 92-50 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. She recorded 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. CSM Targoviste (16-1) is placed second in the Liga Nationala. It was her team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Tikhonenko's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 59.4%(60-101) and FT: 53.3%. She has a dual citizenship: Russian and Kazakhstan. Tikhonenko is also a member of the Russian U20 national team.

   #4. An experienced center Oksana Zakalyuzhnaya (198-77, currently plays in Turkey) managed to help Mersin BSH Bld in a victory against the tenth-ranked TED Ankara (6-10) 77-67 in the Turkish TKBL in Sunday night's game. Zakalyuzhnaya recorded only 4 points in 14 minutes. Mersin BSH Bld (11-5) is placed fifth in the TKBL. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This year Zakalyuzhnaya's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 1.7rpg in the three games. She used to play for the Russian national team back in 2006.

   #5. Former U20 international guard Yana Panevina (168-91, currently plays in Baltic League) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Tim-Scuf (5-3) 76-60 in the Baltic League on Saturday night. Panevina scored 6 points and added 4 passes in 25 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BK Tsmoki-Minsk (8-0) is placed first in the Baltic League. So far her team won all eight games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended in the Baltic League. This year Panevina's total stats are: 5.0ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.6apg in the seven games. She used to play for the Russian U20 national team two years ago.

   #6. Forward Anastasiya Kolotilschikova (182-90, currently plays in Belarus), who plays in the Belarusian Premier League could not help Sozh Gomel (12-5) to beat Tsmoki-Minsk (12-2). Kolotilschikova scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. Sozh Gomel lost 65-80 on the road to the second-ranked Tsmoki-Minsk. It was Sozh Gomel's third consecutive loss in a row. The Second Stage already ended. Kolotilschikova has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 4.5rpg in the four games. She is a former U20 international player as she played for the Russian team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Russian passport but never been selected to any of Russian national teams:

   #1. Ekaterina Abramzon (185-F-87, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala could not help Alba Iulia (12-6) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Alba Iulia lost 65-76 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Satu Mare. Abramzon had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. This year Abramzon's overall stats are: 7.4ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.6spg in the 18 games she played so far. She has a dual citizenship: Russian and Israeli.

   #2. Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-C-81, currently plays in Belarus) led Olimpia GrGAU to a victory over the closely-ranked Sozh Gomel (5-9) crushing them 86-62 in the Belarusian Premier League last Wednesday. She was the best player in that game. Alyoshkina had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 14 rebounds in 37 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. SBK Olimpia Grodno (12-1) is placed first in the Premier League. It was her team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. The Second Stage already ended. Alyoshkina is currently first on the league's list of best rebounders with 11.0rpg. This year she also averages: 12.5ppg and 1.2apg in the 13 games. Alyoshkina is another player who holds two passports: Russian and Ukrainian.

   #3. Irina Mihailova (191-F-81, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked 08 Stockholm (12-13) crushing them 118-49 in the Swedish Damligan on Friday night. She scored 13 points and added 3 assists. Northland Basket Lulea (15-4) is placed third in the Damligan. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mihailova's overall stats this season are: 6.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg. She has both Moldovan and Russian nationalities.

   #4. Experienced Elena Vishnyakova (191-F-78, college: G.Washington, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LF2 (12th division) was not able to help Laveyron (9-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Vishnyakova's good performance Laveyron was crushed 94-62 at home by the second-ranked COB Calais. She was the second best scorer with 12 points. Vishnyakova also added 8 rebounds. Vishnyakova is ranked second on the list of the best rebounders in the league. She has very reliable stats this season: 12.8ppg, 10.1rpg, 1.5apg and 1.7spg. Vishnyakova also holds two passports: Russian and French.

   #5. Tatiana Shapochkina (179-G-85, currently plays in Belarus) is a teammate of previously mentioned Lyubov Alyoshkina. But that was another game of her team in Belarusian Premier League which we would like to mention. Shapochkina, who plays in the Belarusian Premier League was not able to secure a victory for Olimpia GrGAU (12-1) in their last game. Despite her good performance the league leader Olimpia GrGAU lost 55-65 in Minsk to the lower-ranked (#3) Gorizont. Shapochkina was the second best scorer with 12 points. She also added 7 rebounds in 28 minutes. Shapochkina belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #8) and also on the list of most steals (fourth place). She has very reliable stats this year: 13.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.0apg and 2.7spg in the 13 games. Shapochkina has Ukrainian and Russian nationalities.

   #6. Olga Fedorova (189-C-78, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help the league outsider Arxil Pontevedra in their game against ADBA in the Spanish LF2 (12th division). Despite her very good performance in Saturday night's game She recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds. Fedorova also added 2 blocks. Fedorova is ranked second on the list of the best blockers in the league. She has very reliable stats this season: 14.3ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.5apg, 1.1bpg and 1.8spg.

   #7. Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-C-89, currently plays in Belarus) couldn't help the league outsider one of league's weakest teams Gorizont in their game against Tsmoki-Minsk in the Belarusian Premier League, despite her good performance last Wednesday. Khomenchuk was the second best scorer with 11 points. She also added 9 rebounds in 29 minutes. But her team lost 60-68. Khomenchuk is ranked second on the list of the best rebounders in the league with 9.8rpg. This year she also averages: 9.4ppg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg in the 12 games. Khomenchuk holds both Russian and Ukrainian passports.

   #8. Anna Sokolan (178-G-84, currently plays in Bulgaria) managed to help Neftochimic 2010 Burgas to win against the closely-ranked Levski 81-63 in the Bulgarian NBL on Saturday night. She scored only 4 points. Sokolan's total stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.9apg. She has Ukrainian and Russian nationalities.

   #9. Viktoriya Pomadina (188-F, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help the league outsider one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Jezica in their game against Ilrija in the Slovenian SKL. Pomadina scored only 4 points, had 9 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 33 minutes. Her team lost 67-71. Pomadina is ranked first on the list of the best blockers in the league with 1.0bpg. She also averaged so far 3.5ppg and 6.1rpg in the 13 games.

   #10. Ludmila Tymkova (190-C, currently plays in Ukraine) couldn't help BK Frankivsk-Halichina in their game against Dynamo in the Ukrainian Higher League (12th division). Despite her good performance last Saturday Tymkova recorded 12 points and added 3 assists. Tymkova belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #5. She has very reliable stats this season: 10.1ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg.

Bekmetova is back at Kazanochka - May 24, 2016

Kazanochka Kazan (PBL) added to their roster 30-year old naturalized Belarusian center Firuza Bekmetova (202-84kg-86, agency: LBM Management). It is actually her comeback to Kazan as she played here before. Bekmetova played last season at Chevakata (PBL). In 31 games she had 6.5ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.2spg. Dynamo Kursk signs Angel McCoughtry - May 19, 2016

Dynamo Kursk (PBL) signed 30-year old American small forward Angel McCoughtry (187-73kg-86, college: Louisville). The last season McCoughtry played at Mersin (KBSL) in Turkish league. In 29 games she was the best scorer with impressive 24.7ppg and averaged 7.3rpg, 3.4apg and 2.4spg (leader !!!). She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Dynamo Kursk (PBL) hired Spaniard coach Lucas Mondelo (agency: Regeneracom Sports. He has coached for the last four years at Shanxi in Chinese WCBA. Among other achievements Mondelo won Chinese WCBA championship title for two years in a row (2014 and 2015).
