We bring you last week's top performances from Russians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Minnesota Timberwolves (18-29) in their last game. Despite Shved's very good performance the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 100-111 on the road to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Shved also added 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 27 minutes on the court. It was Timberwolves' third consecutive loss in a row. Shved has relatively good stats this year: 10.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.4apg, 2FGP: 43.3%, 3FGP: 31.0% and FT: 73.4% in the 42 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Russian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Andrei Kirilenko (209-81, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Alexey Shved. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Kirilenko led Minnesota Timberwolves to an easy victory against the New Orleans Hornets (17-33) crushing them 115-86. He recorded 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. The Minnesota Timberwolves have 18-29 record this season. It's Kirilenko's first year with the team. Kirilenko has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 13.3ppg, 6.3rpg, 3.0apg, 1.1bpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 57.2%(171-299), 3FGP: 29.4% and FT: 76.2%. Kirilenko is a naturalized American. He is in the roster of the Russian senior national team. Kirilenko used to play for CSKA Moscow in Russian league.

   #3. The Russian player who performed third best last week abroad was former University international center Ivan Nelyubov (207-88, currently plays in Baltic League). He contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Sakalai (0-4) crushing them 81-55 in the Baltic League in Friday night's game. Nelyubov scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Tartu Ulikool/Rock (4-0) is placed first in group H. So far his team won all four games in the Top 16. They will play only one more game in the Baltic League Top 16. And that game will be critical. Nelyubov's overall stats this season are: 9.1ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 58.6%(51-87) and FT: 66.7%. He played for the Russian university national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Timofey Mozgov (215-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Chicago Bulls (30-20) crushing them 128-96 in the NBA last Thursday. Mozgov scored 6 points in only 8 minutes. The Denver Nuggets have a solid 32-18 record this season. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This year Mozgov's overall stats are: 3.1ppg and 3.0rpg in the 28 games. He is also Russian national team player.

Former U18 international forward Stanislav Dikiy (201-88, currently plays in Ukraine) contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked DniproAzot (11-18) crushing them 96-73 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Sunday night. Dikiy recorded 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 18 minutes. Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye (18-10) is placed third in the Superleague. This year Dikiy's total stats are: 2.0ppg and 1.5rpg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Russian U18 national team seven years ago.

   #6. Center Ruslan Pateev (213-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Arizona St. to a victory against the University of California (5-5) 66-62 in the NCAA last Thursday. Pateev scored 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 26 minutes. The Arizona State University has a solid 7-3 conference record this season. Pateev has been at the team for four years. He has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 1.5rpg in the 19 games. Pateev is a former U20 international player as he played for the Russian team three years ago.

Former University international forward Aleksandr Fomin (206-86, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to help the league outsider Tsmoki-Minsk (0-13) in their game against Triumph Lyubertsy (6-7) in the VTB United League. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Fomin recorded only 2 points. The tenth-placed Tsmoki-Minsk was defeated 80-66 in Lubertsy by the higher-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (#6) in the group B of VTB United League. So far Tsmoki-Minsk lost all thirteen games in the Regular Season. Fomin has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 2.3rpg. He used to play for the Russian university national team two years ago.

Guard Teymuraz Babunashvili (185-90, currently plays in Georgia) managed to help Kutaisi Kutaisi in a victory against one of league's weakest teams Samedicino-Academia (1-10) crushing them 91-70 in the Georgian Superleague on Wednesday night. Babunashvili scored only 3 points in 10 minutes. Kutaisi Kutaisi (1-0) is placed in the Superleague. Babunashvili has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg in the nine games. He used to play for the Russian U18 national team back in 2008.

Former U20 international forward Maxim Zakharov (198-89, college: E.Utah JC, currently plays in Belgium) was not able to secure a victory for VOO Verviers-Pepinster (3-12) in their game against Base Oostende (12-4) in the Belgian Ethias League. Zakharov cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 21 minutes. The bottom-ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster was crushed 99-71 in Oostende by the leading Base. It was VOO Verviers-Pepinster's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Zakharov has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 2.7rpg in the 10 games. He used to play for the Russian U20 national team four years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Russian passport but never been selected to any of Russian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-C-80, currently plays in Greece) contributed to PAOK's victory against the eighth-ranked Ikaros (6-9) 85-80 in the Greek A1 on Sunday night. He scored 10 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 34 minutes. PAOK Thessaloniki (10-5) is placed fourth in the A1. Papadopoulos is currently third on the league's list of best rebounders with 7.3rpg. This year his other stats are: 12.2ppg and 3.2apg in the 15 games he played so far. Papadopoulos has a dual citizenship: Russian and Greek.

   #2. Raul Lopez (183-PG-80, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help Gescrap BB (12-8) to beat Real Madrid (19-1). Lopez scored 5 points and added 3 passes. Gescrap BB was badly defeated 94-74 at home by the leading Real Madrid. Lopez's total stats this season are: 6.9ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Anton Indrikov (193-G-87, currently plays in Belarus) was the major contributor in Rubon's victory against the closely-ranked Svisloch (6-13) 83-72 in the Belarusian Premier League in Tuesday night's game. He scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. BK Rubon Vitebsk (9-10) is placed third in the Premier League. Indrikov is ranked seventh on the list of the top scorers in the league with 13.6ppg. He also averaged so far 4.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.8spg in the 19 games.

   #4. Nikita Khartchenkov (200-F-87, currently plays in Germany) led NBC to a surprising victory over the league leader SC Rasta Vechta (15-5) 85-84 in the German ProA (second division) last Saturday. Khartchenkov was MVP of the game. He scored 22 points. Nuernberger Basketball Club (9-11) is placed ninth in the ProA. This season Khartchenkov has relatively solid stats: 14.2ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.4apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Russian and German. Despite Khartchenkov's Russian nationality, he previously played for the German U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Russian team.

   #5. Aleksey Adediran (204-C-82, college: Binghamton, currently plays in Latvia) led Liepaja to a shocking victory over the third-ranked Jekabpils (13-9) 95-88 in the Latvian LBL in Saturday night's game. Adediran was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points. Liepajas Lauvas (8-15) is placed ninth in the LBL. Adediran has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 1.5rpg. He has both Nigerian and Russian nationalities.

   #6. Aliaksandr Pustahvar (202-SF-85, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to help the league outsider Tsmoki-Minsk in their game against Triumph Lyubertsy in the VTB United League. He recorded 7 points. His team was defeated 80-66. Pustahvar has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 3.7rpg. He also holds two passports: Russian and Belarusian.

   #7. Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86, currently plays in Ukraine) led Musson to a victory over the sixth-ranked BC-93 Pulsar crushing them 84-56 in the Ukrainian Higher League (second division) in Sunday night's game. Lipovtsev was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. Lipovtsev also added 4 assists in 28 minutes. He is currently fifth on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (fourth place). Lipovtsev has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 7.4rpg, 2.6apg, 2.0bpg and 1.5spg in the 20 games.

   #8. Youri Anissovets (203-F-88, college: Bevill St.-Fayette, currently plays in Canada) contributed to an easy victory against the Bobcats crushing them 88-63 in the Canadian university league CIS last Friday. Anissovets recorded 11 points. He has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 1.4rpg.

   #9. Dmitry Flis (203-F/C-84, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a River Andorra's victory against the league outsider Melilla Baloncesto 79-72 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. Flis scored 7 points in 15 minutes. He is ranked second on the list of the best blockers in the league with 1.3bpg. This year Flis' other stats are: 11.9ppg and 4.2rpg in the 17 games. He has Russian and Spanish nationalities.

   #10. Anton Kazarnovski (205-F/C-85, currently plays in Israel) helped Hapoel Kazrin edge the closely-ranked Elitzur Yavne 102-100 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Wednesday night's game. Kazarnovski recorded 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. This season he has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 9.2rpg and 3.1apg. Kazarnovski has dual citizenship: Russian and Israeli. Despite his Russian passport, Kazarnovski previously played for the Israeli university national team and probably cannot be called to the Russian team.

BC Irkut Irkutsk (Superleague 1) tabbed 27-year old Montenegrin-Serbian point guard Filip Samojlovic (183-90). He played most recently at Olimpica BK Cerignola in Italian Serie C Silver. In 23 games he averaged impressive 19.8ppg last season. The previous (15-16) season Samojlovic played at Lusitania in Portuguese LPB where in 12 games he had 6.3ppg and 2.8apg. Poland - Russia 81-78 Poland topped Russia in Hamburg to finish second at the SuperCup 2017. They grabbed an 81-78 win for a 21 record, while Russia lost all three games to finish last. Both sides exchanged the wins in the first half as Poland had 34-31 halftime advantage. Russia pulled back with a 23-17 run in the third period, while Poland closed the game with a final 30-24 rally.
