The game between second ranked Khimky (8-3) and ninth ranked Unics Kazan (4-7) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Khimky was defeated by Unics Kazan in a tough game in Kazan 70-76. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Khimky. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But Khimky won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Greek power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Greek power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) helped adding 13 points. The best for the losing side was international guard Vitaliy Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unics Kazan moved-up to seventh place. Khimky at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
10th ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (1-9) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Lokomotiv (6-5) with the biggest margin this round 94-87. It was a quality performance for Lithuanian point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Aleks Maric accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) came up with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Enisey Krasnoyarsk in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lokomotiv maintains fourth place with 6-5 record. Enisey Krasnoyarsk lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Lokomotiv will play against Triumph Lyubertsy (#6) in Lubertsy in the next round. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 15 Triumph won against N.Novgorod on the opponent's court 80-76.



Unics - Khimky 76-70

Enisey Krasnoyarsk was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 49-38 second half run of Lokomotiv. They made 30-of-36 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Enisey Krasnoyarsk was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. N.Novgorod - Triumph 76-80

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-8) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (4-6) 80-76. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Nizhny Novgorod won fourth quarter 28-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Triumph Lyubertsy made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Triumph Lyubertsy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for international Sergey Karasev (202-93) who led the winners and scored 22 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Triumph Lyubertsy's coach Vasiliy Karasev allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International power forward Artem Yakovenko (205-88) came up with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for BC Nizhny Novgorod in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Triumph Lyubertsy moved-up to sixth place. BC Nizhny Novgorod at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost.
