The game between second ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (14-4) and ninth ranked AltajBasket (10-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Ural Ekaterinburg was defeated by AltajBasket in Barnau 71-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ural Ekaterinburg. The game was mostly controlled by AltajBasket. Ural Ekaterinburg managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AltajBasket made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Ural Ekaterinburg turnovers. Point guard Vasiliy Gladyshev (188-83) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists for the winners and guard Sergey Chernov (187-86) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. AltajBasket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and Dynamo MO. Ural Ekaterinburg at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. AltajBasket is looking forward to face Severstal (#14) in Cherepovec in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ural Ekaterinburg will play at home against Planeta-Univ. (#11) in Ukhta and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Rostov. 4th placed host Ataman (13-7) was smashed by first ranked Universitet-Yugra (18-2) 91-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ataman. Azerbaijani center Aleksandr Rindin (225-85, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Ilia Aleksandrov accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Dmitriy Zagnoyko (192-85) came up with 19 points for Ataman in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Universitet-Yugra have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-2 record. Ataman at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Universitet-Yugra will play against Ryazan (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ataman will play against Volgograd and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 21: Volgograd lost to Ruskon-Mord. on the opponent's court 82-86. Planeta-Univ. unfortunately lost to Novosybirsk in a home game 81-95. Ryazan managed to beat Sojuz Zaretchny on the road 83-67. Severstal was crushed by Dynamo MO on its own court 47-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points, 7 assists and 4 steals by Vitaly Boyko of Volgograd.

Ruskon-Mord. - Volgograd 86-82

Very expected game in Saransk where 12th ranked Volgograd (5-12) was defeated by fifth ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (12-8) 86-82. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Volgograd won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Stanislav Sotnikov (200-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) nailed 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and guard Fedor Klyuchnikov (192-90) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ukrainian point guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) came up with 24 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and Ukrainian center Olexandr Berhin (205-85) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Volgograd in the defeat.
