Budivelnyk went on a decisive run in the third quarter to pull from behind in the key clash with Triumph in EuroCup Top 16 Group I. Budivelnyk held on to the gained lead throughout the fourth quarter and posted a crucial victory to finish on top of the ladder. Budivelnyk will now face Spartak Saint Petersburg in the playoffs. Triumph slipped at 2-4 record and finished at the bottom of the standings. The teams went neck and neck throughout the first quarter. The scoreboard read 21:21 at the first intermission. The Russian team pulled ahead in the second frame. Triumph opened the period with 7 points in a row to spur ahead. They held on to the advantage to establish a 43:37 halftime advantage. Kyle Landry gave the visitors a 45:37 advantage early in the third term. However Budivelnyk capped the period on a 15:2 rally to head into the fourth frame up by 5 points 58:53. Sergey Karasev (202-SG-93) put Triumph within three early in the fourth frame but it was as close as the visitors could get. Budivelnyk stayed calm and raced to the victory at the end. Malcolm Delaney (191-G-89, college: Virginia Tech) netted 26 points and distributed 7 assists to lead the hosts. Michailis Anisimovas (214-C-84) added 16 points for the winners. Tywain McKee (188-PG-86, college: Coppin St.) answered with 17 points for Triumph. Sergey Karasev provided 15 points in the loss.

The team management were very satisfied with Lukic's job this season after he lead the team to the Quarter finals of the VTB League,passing favorites Spartak St.Petersburg in the 1/8 finals and losing only 2-1 to Zalgiris in the 1/4 finals. Lukic,who is in BC Nizhny Novgorod from the 2008/09 season was delighted to continue with the club:"To be honest, I had some options for future employment . But I gave too much for the establishment of "BC Nizhny Novgorod" in Russian basketball and continue to see the huge potential there is in our team.In such a situation, to me personally, it is interesting to continue this work at the club. In finishing the season with the guys we have made a good step forward and should continue to progress in our results. Now we have coming off-season, but we have to work hard to improve the team for next season".

They made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Universitet-Yugra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Chris Monroe (191-81, college: G.Washington) had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Lithuanian point guard Linas Lekavicius (186-84, college: American) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and guard Anton Ageev (192-84) scored 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Unics announced their decision not to renew the contract of head coach Stanislav Eremin . The specialist took over the Kazan team in February. He replaced Aco Petrovic . However Unics finished in just the fifth position in PBL regular season. They also surrendered againt Lokomotiv Kuban at the quarterfinal stage of the VTB League. On top of it Unics lost to Valencia in the first round of EuroCup playoffs. [read more]
