The former international forward Vladimir Dyachok (204-80) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Anton Ageev (192-84) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Artem Isakov (192-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 23 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Universitet-Yugra (19-2) have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Ryazan at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Ruskon-Mord.. Universitet-Yugra will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ryazan will play at home against Volgograd (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Volgograd. Twelfth ranked Volgograd (6-12) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Ataman (13-8) 66-65 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Fedor Likholitov (210-80, college: VCU, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Vitaly Boyko contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. point guard Amiran Amirkhanov (187-86) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds for Ataman. Ataman's coach Boris Livanov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Volgograd moved-up to eleventh place. Ataman at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Volgograd will play against higher ranked Ryazan (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ataman will play against Dynamo Moscow and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Moscow, where higher ranked Ruskon-Mordovia (12-9) lost to ninth ranked Dynamo Moscow (11-9) in a road game 62-67 on Friday. Aleksei Karpeko scored 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Dynamo Moscow's coach Aleksandr Afanasaev used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Nikita Gresev responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Dynamo Moscow have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ and AltajBasket. Loser Ruskon-Mordovia keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Ryazan. Dynamo Moscow will meet higher ranked Ataman (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ruskon-Mordovia will play against AltajBasket in Barnau and hope to secure a win.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Novosybirsk. Local Novosybirsk (15-5) outscored 15th ranked Spartak Vidnoye (3-16) 85-64. Pavel Podkolzin notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort. Novosybirsk's coach Sergei Kazarzhevsky felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Novosybirsk maintains third position with 15-5 record having just -11 point less than leader Univ.Surgut. Spartak Vidnoye lost fourth consecutive game. Spartak Vidnoye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Novosybirsk's next round opponent will be TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#7) on the road.
