Experienced former international forward Vladimir Dyachok (204-F-80) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Univ.Surgut and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Superleague Player of the Week award for round 22. The 32-year old forward had a double-double of 20 points and ten rebounds, while his team edged out Ryazan (#6, 12-9) 90-86. It allowed Univ.Surgut to consolidate first place in the Russian Superleague. Univ.Surgut has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 19-2. It's Dyachok's second year at Univ.Surgut and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Vladimir Dyachok averages this season 8.3ppg and 5.1rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old forward Nikita Gresev (204-F-88) of Ruskon-Mord.. Gresev impressed basketball fans with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Ruskon-Mord. lost that game 62-67 to the lower-ranked Dynamo MO (#9, 11-9). Ruskon-Mord. managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 12-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Gresev is a newcomer at Ruskon-Mord. and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
The third best performed player last round was American Chris Monroe (191-G-81) of second-ranked Ural Ekaterinb.. Monroe showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the last round. He was a key player of Ural Ekaterinb., leading his team to a 66-58 win against the lower-ranked Planeta-Univ. (#12, 6-14). Ural Ekaterinb. needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 4 lost games. Monroe has a great season in Russia. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.9ppg (best scorer).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Maxim Kiryanov (190-G-90) of TEMP-SUMZ - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Alexander Lavnikov (205-F/C-91) of Avtodor - 19 points and 5 rebounds 6. Aleksandr Zaykin (208-F/C-84) of Planeta-Univ. - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Artem Komissarov (200-G-90) of Volgograd - 17 points and 9 rebounds 8. Linas Lekavicius (186-PG-84) of Univ.Surgut - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
