PBL Round 15: No surprise as #1 UMMC Ekaterinburg defeats Dynamo-GUVD - Feb 24, 2013

PBL top team - UMMC Ekaterinburg (13-1) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Dynamo-GUVD (4-10) in Novosibirsk 83-57. The game without a history. UMMC Ekaterinburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Dynamo-GUVD's 30. UMMC Ekaterinburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Dynamo-GUVD's players. It was a great evening for Latvian Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-83) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) helped adding 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American Sidney Spencer (191-85, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) with 11 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UMMC Ekaterinburg have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-1 record. Dynamo-GUVD at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg are looking forward to face Dynamo Moscow (#4) on the road in the next round. Dynamo-GUVD will play against Spartak Vidnoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 15 Spartak N. lost to Dynamo K. on the opponent's court 50-59.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points and 11 rebounds by Ekaterina Lisina of Dynamo K..

Very expected game when 8th ranked Spartak Noginsk (3-10) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Dynamo Kursk (10-4) 59-50 on Sunday. Spartak Noginsk trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 17-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 50-59 at the end of the game. Dynamo Kursk forced 22 Spartak Noginsk turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international center Ekaterina Lisina (203-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard Temeka Johnson (160-82, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 10 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Ekaterina Chistyakova (184-89) with 10 points and 5 rebounds and center Tatiana Sergeeva (196-82) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dynamo Kursk have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dynamo M. and Nadezhda O. Spartak Noginsk at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Dynamo Kursk is looking forward to face Vologda-Chevakata (#6) at home in the next round. Spartak Noginsk will play against Nadezhda Orenburg and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

MBA Moscow (PBL) agreed terms with 21-year old power forward Polina Fedorova (189-95) from Kazanochka. In 5 PBL games she had 7.8ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.0spg last season. Fedorova also played that season for Energy Ivanovo where in 16 games she recorded 9.2ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.0apg. She also played 6 games in Eurocup where she averaged 8.8ppg and 6.8rpg. MBA Moscow (PBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 22-year old power forward Alexandra Marchenkova (182-94). She played most recently at Energy Ivanovo in the PBL. In 21 games she recorded 12.4ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1apg last season. Marchenkova helped them to make it to the semifinals.
