The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked CSKA Moscow (12-2) on the court of eighth ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by BC Nizhny Novgorod 70-68. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of CSKA Moscow. It was a good game for American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. The former international Semen Antonov (202-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds for CSKA Moscow. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Nizhny Novgorod maintains eighth position with 5-9 record. Defending champion CSKA Moscow still keeps top place with two games lost. BC Nizhny Novgorod are looking forward to face league's second-placed Khimky in Khimki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CSKA Moscow will play at home against Lokomotiv in Kuban and is hoping to win this game.

American forward Chuck Eidson (203-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Ian Vougioukas chipped in 18 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unics Kazan maintains sixth position with 5-7 record, which they share with Triumph. Krasnie Krilya at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last game of round 18 Triumph beat Enisey on the road 78-74.



Unics - Krasnie Krilya 74-66

They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Krasnie Krilya was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Chuck Eidson (203-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Greek power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Enisey - Triumph 74-78

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (5-7) beat on the road bottom-ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (1-10) 78-74. Enisey Krasnoyarsk was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Canadian power forward Kyle Landry (207-86, college: N.Arizona) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and international Sergey Karasev (202-93) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Jason Rich (191-86) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Zabian Dowdell (191-84, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 17 points and 9 assists. Enisey Krasnoyarsk's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Triumph Lyubertsy moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Unics. Enisey Krasnoyarsk lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Triumph Lyubertsy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play at home against Spartak-Prim. (#9) in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BC Khimky Moscow Region (VTB) re-signed 31-year old former international center Dmitry Sokolov (214-115kg-85, agency: Alti Sport). He played there last season. Sokolov managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In 6 Euroleague games he averaged 5.2ppg and 3.8rpg. He also played 14 games in VTB United League where he had just 2.9ppg and 2.2rpg.
