Hatis Yerevan grabbed valuable victory against Chevakata making the first step forward to second stage of EuroCup 2009/10. Maurita Reid (173-G-85, college: Miami, FL) and Bojana Vulic (191-C-84) were the key players in this victory scoring 26 and 25 points respectively. Hatis Yerevan grabbed valuable victory against Chevakata making the first step forward to second stage of EuroCup 2009/10. Chevekata (0-2) had Anastasia Pimenova (180-F-81) on fire with 36 pts. It was a game with not so brilliant defenses by both teams. Hatis Yerevan and Chevekata players played very exciting game and the hosts came out victorious thanks to nice last 30 seconds. Before, that Hatis Yeravan had 27-21 lead in the first quarter and later jumped to 54-46 until the half time. After the breather, visitors woke up. Thanks to Anastasia Pimenova, they managed to close the gap to 4 points after 30 minutes of play. Than, at the beginning of the last period Pimenova brought her team 75-76 lead. The hosts reacted quickly jumping to 83-76. In the finish, Maurita Reid and Ganna Zarytska were calm from the free throw line lifting their team to valuable 103-99 win. In the next round, Hatis Yerevan will meet Besiktas on the road. Chevakata will take on Athinaikos in Greece.

EuroCup: Spartak Noginsk - Hemofarm 76-78
Hemofarm managed to secure important away victory after beating Spartak Noginsk 76-78 in a matchup of Group J. This is the first appearance for both teams in Qualifying Round. EuroCup: Spartak Noginsk - Hemofarm 76-78
Hemofarm managed to secure important away victory after beating Spartak Noginsk 76-78 in a matchup of Group J. This is the first appearance for both teams in Qualifying Round. It did not start well for visiting team, who trailed for most of the game. Spatak players came out stronger from the start and after first quarter they were already up 23-16. In the second quarter, Hemofarm consolidates somewhat and started playing better. Still they could not cut the deficit, as Spartak was able to fend off any run attempt. After exchanging baskets in the 2nd quarter, Spartak still held the lead at halftime. The score showed 44-36 for Spartak as teams went for halftime break. More of the same continued in the third quarter, as Spartak players continued to build their lead. With 2 minutes left in the third quarter, Spartak had its biggest lead of the game as the scoreboard showed 60-49 score. By the end of the period, Spartak held 13-point lead and were looking comfortable as the score was 68-55. In the opening minute of the fourth frame Victoria Shagan (178-G-79) hit a three pointer for Spartak to increase the lead to 71-55. From that point on only one team played and that was Hemofarm. Visitors started playing better defense and started to dominate the offense. This resulted in 3-16 run which cut the deficit to 74-71 with little under 2 minutes to play. With 29 seconds left in the game, Danijela Rizvic (177-G-87) hit the basket to tie the game at 75. In the next possession, Spartak players committed offensive foul and than Tamara Radocaj hit a triple to complete the comeback and give Hemofarm 75-78 lead. All Spartak could do was hit one more free throw to set the final score of 76-78. Danijela Rizvic led Hemofarm and all scorers with 20 points on the night. She received help from Maja Milutinovic (177-G-87) who added 14 and Dara Kovacevic (197-C-83) who chipped in 12 points along with 10 rebounds. Nelli Nevzorova (190-F-70) led the way for Spartak with 17 points. Viktoriya Victoria Shagan added 16, while Yulia Khodzayan (173-G-84) finished the game with 15.

ICIM Arad - Nadezhda Orenburg 67-69
Nadezhda Orenburg celebrated tiny 67-69 victory in Arad last night keeping the perfect score after two rounds in EuroCup, Group I. That was a very important game for both teams. ICIM Arad appeared for the first time this season facing with thriller defeat. Katerina Snytsina (188-F-85) was the leading player in victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Anastasiya Veremeenko (192-C-87) also shined netting 17 pts and grabbing 11 rebs, while Olga Ovcharenko (184-F-79) added 14 pts. Suzana Milovanovic (185-F-79, agency: LBM Management) top-scored in loss with 18 pts. Biljana Savic (191-C-83) (10 rebs) and Cherrisse Graham (171-G-82) had 12 pts each. Visitors opened the game better taking 19-24 lead after 10 minutes of play. Nothing has changed in the second period as Nadezhda players still controlled rhythm of the game. As a result the half time score was 32-47 for the guests. ICIM Arad players woke up after the breather. They started with melting the Nadezhda's lead, especially in the last quarter. Finally with 2 minutes remaining the hosts made a big turn taking one point lead. The match is decided in the last five seconds. Anastasiya Veremeenko was sent to the line and she made it twice for her team, 67-69. The hosts had a possession and just 5 seconds for it. Ramona Tarta (173-G-89) grabbed the ball, but she committed a turnover and Nadezhda came up with valuable road victory.
