Scotland - Azerbaijan 73-54

Scotland had a nice start at 2013 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They outplayed Azerbaijan 73-54 for 1-0 score in Group A in Ohrid, FYROM. Scotland was better in every single period of this game for the final 19-point victory (12-11, 19-13, 20-12, 22-18). Malta and Moldova are also placed to this group and all teams fight for the first two places. Those two teams will advance to Semifinals, while 3rd and 4th ranked countries will go to classification games. Rona Corkindale (177-F-86) was a key player in victory with 29 points and 9 rebounds. Siobhan Moore (185-C-87, college: Bridgeport) (6 rebs) scored 16 points and Mairi Buchan (188-C/F-90) (5 rebs) added five less. In Azerbaijan, Dina Ulyanova (185-SF-89) shined with double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds.Tatyana Deniskina (173-SG-85) posted 18 pts. In Day Two, Scotland will meet Malta. Azerbaijan will play against Moldova.

In 20 WBBL games in United Kingdom she averaged 12.9ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg last season. Hayward played in the final of English WBBL Trophy. Scotland women entered their third game of the MABA tournament looking for a win against tournament hosts, Malaysia. Scotland came into the game having won 1 out of 2 games in the tournament, whereas ranked 43rd in the world , Malaysia were unbeaten so far. Scotland shot out to an early 8-0 lead on the back of two three-pointers from Sarah Thomson (177-G-95).
