U18 Lithuania closes Preliminary Round in Strumica with 82-58 win over U18 Scotland - Jul 30, 2012

U18 SCOTLAND - U18 LITHUANIA 58-82

This game was just the formality as even before it Lithuania already secured second place in Preliminary Group D of U18 EuroBasket Division B in Strumica. Lithuania smashed Scotland 82-58 to end this phase with almost perfect 3-1 record. Lithuania advanced to the second stage in Strumica, while Scotland failed to do it as they close the standings in Group D with 0-4. Scotland will play in Classification Round from 9th to 18th place. Lithuania shined after the breather making 30-16 in Q3 and 21-11 in the last ten minutes of the game. Ieva Kazlauskaite (180-F-94) had 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Justina Kraujunaite (174-F-95) had 14 points and 6 rebs, while Austeja Sirsinaityte (164-PG-95) helped with 13 pts and 7 boards. In defeat, Hilary Wood (163-G-94) collected 15 points and 5 rebs. Robyn Lewis (160-PG-95) and Claire Paxton (184-C-94) netted 9 pts each. All teams will take a rest tomorrow and they will continue with games on Wednesday. Lithuania will meet Belarus in Group F, while Scotland will take on Latvia in Group H.

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The game with biggest result difference took place in Falkirk. Local Sony Centre (7-3) beat 5th ranked Lady Rocks (5-5) 72-58 on Monday night. Sony Centre maintains second place with 7-3 record having just one point less than leader Edinburgh KK. Lady Rocks at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost.
