Rocks Sign back Brice Fantazia - Aug 20, 2012

Brice
Fantazia
Glasgow Rocks are able to announce the (re) signing of 64 guard, Brice Fantazia (193-G-85, college: Culver Stockton), as he makes his return to Glasgow after a years absence. During his first stint with the Rocks Fantazia averaged 9.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 2.9apg and shot 45.5% from the field.

Fantazia was initially part of the Glasgow Rocks 2010/11 squad and after a year away playing for Portuguese side S.C. LUSITANIA ANGRO PATRIMONIO MUNDIAL, Coach Davis decided to bring back Fantazia in an effort to strengthen his backcourt in the absence of Danny Huffor. Unfortunately, Danny Huffor acquired a season ending knee injury while he was representing the Scottish National Team in San Marino at the European Championships for Small Countries.

Fantazia will be a welcome addition to the Rocks squad and as an added bonus for Glasgow Rock fans he will no longer need a Certificate of Sponsorship to play for the franchise due to his recent acquisition of Portuguese Citizenship, giving him automatic EU membership status.

Head Coach, Sterling Davis said: Most fans here will be familiar with Brice and what he can bring. He is a hard-nosed guard who will not back down. He spent last season playing for a very good Portuguese side and hopefully will come back with even more experience than when he left. He unfortunately dealt with a nagging injury in his debut season in a Rocks jersey, so Im sure he will be ready to come in and show us a new side of him that he was not able to show before.

Fans will be hoping that the extra experience Fantazia has accumulated over the past few years will put him in good stead for the 2012/13 Season and that his energetic style of play will add another dimension to the Rocks offensive prowess. He is due to arrive in Glasgow on the 1st September as the Rocks prepare to start their official 2012/13 training camp on the 3rd September.

More signing announcements will follow in the coming days, alongside details for the Annual Glasgow Rocks pre-season fixture on the 9th September against the USA Select @ 5:00pm. Tickets for this event are now online at www.glasgowrocks.co.uk with the event being held at the Kelvin Hall ISA. This will be the final ever game to be played at Kelvin Hall with the Glasgow Rocks scheduled to play their opening BBL Fixture against the Newcastle Eagles at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena on the 7th October @ 5:00pm.

Fury extinguish Blaze to complete SBC Triple Crown - 1 month ago
The final game and main event of Day 2 of our last event of the season, the SBC Playoff Finals, was our Senior Men's Playoff Final between the League and Cup Champions Sony Centre Fury, and last years League and Playoff Champions Boroughmuir Blaze. It was Blaze who drew first blood in this one, taking a quick 5-0 lead in the game. It wasn't to last for long though as Fury quickly reversed the lead and before we knew it these teams began to trade basket for basket running up the score in a...   [read more]

Fury storm out of Mariner and on to Playoff Finals - 2 months ago
We headed to the Mariner Centre for one last time on Friday night for a Playoff Semi-Final between Sony Centre Fury and Glasgow Storm. With a Finals spot up for grabs, there was plenty at stake for both teams. Storm showed some nerves in the first quarter, getting off to a really slow start. Falkirk were able to capitalise on this with Keith Bunyan (191-G-77) lighting up behind the arc. Fury worked the ball well as a team and made Glasgow Storm work for extended periods on the defensive e...   [read more]
