Glasgow Rocks strengthen their backcourt - Aug 31, 2012

Robinson
Glasgow Rocks strengthen their backcourt with the acquisition of US Import Donald Robinson (193-F, college: W.Virginia Tech) as move to Commonwealth Arena gets closer.
Glasgow Rocks have added some extra length and talent to their backcourt with the acquisition of 64 guard, Donald Robinson. Robinson will be coming off a successful 2011/12 season with West Virginia Tech, where he averaged 15ppg and 2.5 apg.
The 64 athletic guard will have big shoes to fill as he effectively replaces last seasons stand out player Mychal Green, who recently signed with AS SOLEUVRE in Luxemburg. Green will be sorely missed, but Coach Davis is confident that Robinson will be a worthy adversary in the absence of Green.
Coach Davis had this to say: I spotted Donald in a showcase in Vegas where he really stood out on all dimensions. He is long and very athletic for his position and can really put the ball in the basket. I think he has the versatility to play 3 positions on the floor if need be with the shooting guard his primary position. I think he will definitely do well in the league once he gets used to the style of play just as any other newcomer to the league.
With Robinson now confirmed for the 2012/13 season the Rocks are very close to having a full roster with only a few spots remaining to fill. These positions will be announced in the coming days with the squad due to begin their official pre-season training on the 3rd September. This season should be a memorable one for the Glasgow based side as they get ready to make the move to their new Home in the East End of Glasgow at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena!
Glasgow Rocks General Manager, Daniel Bajwoluk, is excited about the upcoming season and all that it could bring; We believe we have a very talented and capable squad that will do Glasgow proud both on and off the court this season. Our scheduled move to the Brand New Commonwealth Arena in the East End has really given us all something to look forward to and everyone associated with the club is expecting 2012/13 to be a very memorable season for us.
Rocks fans are reminded that they will get their first glimpse of the new look team on September 9th when the Glasgow Rocks host the USA Select Squad at the Kelvin Hall ISA, tip-off @ 5:00pm. Tickets for this event are now online at www.glasgowrocks.co.uk.
The Rocks first Official Home BBL Fixture will take place on the 7th October at the Brand New Commonwealth Arena @ 5:00pm when they take on the reigning BBL Champions, Newcastle Eagles.

Fury extinguish Blaze to complete SBC Triple Crown - 1 month ago
The final game and main event of Day 2 of our last event of the season, the SBC Playoff Finals, was our Senior Men's Playoff Final between the League and Cup Champions Sony Centre Fury, and last years League and Playoff Champions Boroughmuir Blaze. It was Blaze who drew first blood in this one, taking a quick 5-0 lead in the game. It wasn't to last for long though as Fury quickly reversed the lead and before we knew it these teams began to trade basket for basket running up the score in a...   [read more]

Fury storm out of Mariner and on to Playoff Finals - 2 months ago
We headed to the Mariner Centre for one last time on Friday night for a Playoff Semi-Final between Sony Centre Fury and Glasgow Storm. With a Finals spot up for grabs, there was plenty at stake for both teams. Storm showed some nerves in the first quarter, getting off to a really slow start. Falkirk were able to capitalise on this with Keith Bunyan (191-G-77) lighting up behind the arc. Fury worked the ball well as a team and made Glasgow Storm work for extended periods on the defensive e...   [read more]
