Glasgow Rocks 97 (27,49,69) (Achara 23, Robinson 17, Murray 15)

Glasgow Rocks claimed a terrific win in Devon to boost their hopes of getting into the thick of the title race as winter prepares to set in.

In a frenetically paced and high octane opening quarter, both teams hit their offensive straps immediately and found some offensive rhythm. The Rocks were particularly slick right from the tip-off, moving 23-15 in front after a triple by the impressive Donald Robinson (193-F, college: W.Virginia Tech).

They managed to keep Raiders at arms-length for the remainder of the opening ten minutes and took a 27-23 lead into the second quarter.

In addition to Robinson, the other player impressing and at times and indeed wreaking havoc under the basket was Great Britain forward Kieron Achara (208-F/C-83, agency: Two Points, college: Duquesne). And, he scored the basket which gave Rocks their first double-digit lead at 37-26.

It was to be one they would subsequently extend to as many as fourteen with four minutes to go until the break, although Raiders did rally and cut the gap to just five after posting a run of nine consecutive points although they couldnt prevent Rocks from taking a 49-40 lead into the locker rooms.

Robinson and Achara were enjoying their evening for the visitors and combined for 30 points in the first twenty minutes which was no doubt top of Raiders head coach Gavin Loves agenda heading into the second half.

But, when Mike Ringgold scored for Rocks to make it 64-49, the game looked to be slipping away from the home team. However, they found a higher gear and a stunning 15-2 run had the home fans revelling in a comeback which had suddenly made it a one-shot game.

EJ Harrison settled Rocks nerves with a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter and the visitors then re-established a double figure lead with seven minutes of the contest remaining.

Raiders launched another salvage bid but despite 22 points from Jeremy Bell (184-PG-82, college: Williams Baptist) and a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds from Matt Schneck, they couldnt get over the hump as Rocks kept their nerve to ease away in crunch time to take an excellent road win.

Achara was the outstanding performer with 23 points from a superb nine of eleven floor shooting.

Fury extinguish Blaze to complete SBC Triple Crown - 1 month ago
The final game and main event of Day 2 of our last event of the season, the SBC Playoff Finals, was our Senior Men's Playoff Final between the League and Cup Champions Sony Centre Fury, and last years League and Playoff Champions Boroughmuir Blaze. It was Blaze who drew first blood in this one, taking a quick 5-0 lead in the game. It wasn't to last for long though as Fury quickly reversed the lead and before we knew it these teams began to trade basket for basket running up the score in a...   [read more]

Fury storm out of Mariner and on to Playoff Finals - 2 months ago
We headed to the Mariner Centre for one last time on Friday night for a Playoff Semi-Final between Sony Centre Fury and Glasgow Storm. With a Finals spot up for grabs, there was plenty at stake for both teams. Storm showed some nerves in the first quarter, getting off to a really slow start. Falkirk were able to capitalise on this with Keith Bunyan (191-G-77) lighting up behind the arc. Fury worked the ball well as a team and made Glasgow Storm work for extended periods on the defensive e...   [read more]
