National League Round 17: Edunburgh Kings beat Boroughmuir in a derby game - Feb 24, 2013

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in National League.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Edunburgh: Edunburgh Kings (#1) and Boroughmuir (#6). Edunburgh Kings (16-1) crushed visiting Boroughmuir (6-10) by 22 points 84-62. Edunburgh Kings have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Newly promoted Boroughmuir keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Edunburgh Kings are looking forward to face league's second-placed Clark Eriksson Fury in Falkirk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Boroughmuir will play at home against Stirling K. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Glasgow. Third ranked Glasgow faced 4th placed Troon T.. Host Glasgow (12-5) smashed guests from Troon (10-7) 95-73. The victory was the third consecutive win for Glasgow. They maintain third place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Edinburgh K. Troon T. lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Glasgow will play against St.Mirren S. (#4) in St Mirren in the next round. Troon T. will play at home against Glasgow Storm and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Glasgow was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked St.Mirren S. (10-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Glasgow Rocks II (4-13). St.Mirren S. did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-72 on Saturday. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for St.Mirren S.. They moved-up to fourth place. Glasgow Rocks II lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. St.Mirren S. will meet at home higher ranked Glasgow (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Glasgow Rocks II will play against Dunfermline Reign (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Stirling. Local Stirling K. (5-12) outscored 9th ranked Dunfermline Reign (3-14) 84-53. Stirling K. maintains seventh place with 5-12 record. Dunfermline Reign at the other side keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Stirling K.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Boroughmuir (#6) in Edunburgh and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dunfermline Reign will play at home against Glasgow Rocks II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 17 bottom-ranked Glasgow Storm was crushed by C.Eriksson F. in Falkirk 81-58.


Stirling K. - Dunfermline R. 84-53

The game with biggest result difference took place in Stirling. Local Stirling K. (5-12) outscored 9th ranked Dunfermline Reign (3-14) 84-53. Stirling K. maintains seventh place with 5-12 record. Clark Eriksson Fury maintains second place with 15-1 record behind leader Edinburgh K. Glasgow Storm lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Clark Eriksson Fury's next round opponent will be league's leader Edunburgh Kings on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Glasgow Storm will play against Troon T. (#5).

Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Bottom-ranked Stirling K. managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses on Friday night. This time newly promoted Stirling K. won against fifth-ranked Edinburgh U. 77-62.
