Up till now the Scottish Rocks, now re-named the Glasgow Rocks thanks to support from Glasgow City Council, have had no women's team, only the Rockettes who are probably the BBL's most renowned floor show. But things are different this season and the new female Glasgow Rocks are certainly not there for decoration. Convincing wins in their opening two games over Polonia Phoenix and Falkirk Fury suggest the Rocks will be an even bigger challenge to the champions Edinburgh Kool Kats than their traditional rivals and past champions St Mirren, who have actually lost some players to the new outfit. Rona Corkindale, a former Saints and Scottish cap and the only British starter in the London Mets' formidable university team, has returned north and scored 30 points v Polonia in an impressive debut. Kool Kats meanwhile are significantly weaker as they have lost two of their junior international guards Becca Alison and Annie Rowan on scholarships to the USA and centre Rowan Bell, who is in Canada for a year But they have welcomed back their former South West Miss and Scottish international forward Charlotte Nelson, who has returned to the capital after the tragic death of her husband in the Canary Islands..
