A League Round 12: Sloboda is defeated by KK Jagodina - Dec 9, 2012

The most important game in the last round took place in Jagodina between third ranked Sloboda (7-5) and twelfth ranked KK Jagodina (4-8) on Sunday night. Sloboda was crushed by KK Jagodina on the road 88-69. The game without a history. KK Jagodina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for KK Jagodina especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nino Celebic (187-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and Montenegrin guard Nikola Vujicic (185-G-89) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Nikola Jevtovic (208-89) with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted KK Jagodina maintains twelfth position with 4-8 record. Sloboda at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. KK Jagodina are looking forward to face higher ranked Metalac (#4) in Valjevo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sloboda will play at home against BKK Radnicki in Beograd and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Vojvodina (9-3) against eighth ranked Borac (6-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Vojvodina was defeated by Borac in a tough game in Cacak 70-79. The winners were led by center Mladen Pantic (209-82, agency: Alti Sport) who scored that evening 21 points and 4 assists and Mladen Sljivancanin supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Even 22 points and 5 assists by guard Radovan Markovic (194-82) did not help to save the game for Vojvodina. Vojvodina's coach Sinisa Matic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Borac moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BKK Radnicki. Vojvodina at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Borac will play against bottom-ranked Sloga (#14) in Kraljevo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vojvodina will play at home against the league's leader Mega Vizura (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
A League top team - Mega Vizura (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Tamis (5-7) 93-75. The best player for the winners was Boban Marjanovic who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Ivan Miceta who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mega Vizura have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Mega Vizura maintains first position with 11-1 record. Loser Tamis keep the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Radnicki Basket and OKK Beograd. Mega Vizura will meet league's second-placed Vojvodina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tamis will play against Vrsac (#6) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Metalac won against Smederevo on the opponent's court 86-76. BKK Radnicki managed to outperform Sloga in a home game 90-76. OKK Beograd recorded a loss to Konstantin on the road 79-70. Vrsac defeated Radnicki Basket on its own court 84-77.

Very expected game when 13th ranked Smederevo Vizura (3-9) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Metalac (7-5) 86-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Metalac. Smederevo Vizura managed to win second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Metalac made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin Bojan Bakic (195-83, agency: Interperformances) who scored 25 points (went 18 for 18 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Stefan Zivanovic (196-89) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Vladimir Vlaskovic (197-77) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Danilo Sibalic (204-88) added 17 points respectively. Very predictable result in Beograd where seventh ranked BKK Radnicki (6-6) defeated bottom-ranked Sloga (2-10) 90-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BKK Radnicki. Sloga managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BKK Radnicki dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Sloga's 46. They outrebounded Sloga 40-24 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Bogic Vujosevic (189-92, agency: Beo Basket) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. point guard Luka Igrutinovic (193-92) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Not a big story in a game in Nis where 11th ranked OKK Beograd (5-7) was defeated by fifth ranked Konstantin (7-5) 79-70 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But OKK Beograd won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Konstantin won last quarter 20-13. Konstantin outrebounded OKK Beograd 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by OKK Beograd's players. A2 newcomer G.S. Larissas 1928 added to their roster 29-year old Serbian guard Stefan Nikolic (193-85kg-87) from Pefkohori. In 26 A2 games in Greece he recorded 12.7ppg, 3.4rpg and 4.1apg last season. A very spectacular year in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Greek A2 Honorable Mention.
