B League Round 11: Radnicki OB hands first defeat to Meridiana NS - Dec 12, 2012

Undefeated Meridiana NS (10-1) recorded its first loss in Obrenovac on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by thirteenth ranked Radnicki OB (4-7) 86-78. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Meridiana NS. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Meridiana NS won third quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Radnicki OB had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Meridiana NS's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Meridiana NS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Marjan Tasic (205-81) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Dragan Boricic (201-77) chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Marko Savic (197-87) produced 27 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Meridiana NS's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Radnicki OB moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Beovuk 72 and Partizan II. Newly promoted Meridiana NS still keeps top position with one game lost. Radnicki OB is looking forward to face higher ranked Zeleznicar (#3) in Indjija in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meridiana NS will play at home against Morava in Vladicin Han and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Aleksinac was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Napredak Rubin (8-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Napredak A. (6-5). Napredak Rubin managed to secure a 6-point victory 70-64. Vojkan Milincic (195-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 10 points and 9 rebounds. Luka Milojevic contributed with 16 points for the winners. Guard Milan Vulic (195-91) answered with 20 points for Napredak A.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Napredak Rubin have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Meridiana NS. Napredak A. at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Mladost Zemun. Napredak Rubin will play against Mladost Zemun (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Napredak A. will play against Crnokosa in Kosjeric and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mladost Zemun moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Napredak A. Loser Proleter Naftagas keep the eighth position with six games lost. Mladost Zemun will meet league's second-placed Napredak Rubin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Proleter Naftagas will play against Spartak (#14) in Subotica and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the A League just one year after relegation.

Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
bottom-ranked Spartak was defeated by Partizan II in Beograd 93-84. Morava was beaten by Crnokosa at home 56-67. Plana lost to Beovuk 72 on the opponent's court 84-93.
The best stats of 11th round was 28 points and 6 rebounds by Nikola Glisovic of Plana.



Partizan II - Spartak 93-84

There was no surprise in Beograd where 14th ranked Spartak (2-9) was defeated by twelfth ranked Partizan II (4-7) 93-84 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 51-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Partizan II especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a great evening for center Nikola Milutinov (212-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Mihajlo Andric (200-94, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Partizan II's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Aleksandar Drakulic (198-85) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Milos Milisavljevic scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Partizan II moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Beovuk 72 and Radnicki OB. Loser Spartak stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Partizan II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beograd Beovuk 72.

Mladost Zemun - Proleter Naftagas 85-65

The game with biggest result difference took place in Zemun. Local Mladost Zemun (6-5) outscored 8th ranked Proleter Naftagas (5-6) 85-65 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Mladost Zemun. Proleter Naftagas managed to win second period 29-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mladost Zemun forced 21 Proleter Naftagas turnovers. Worth to mention a quality performance of Montenegrin power forward Nikola Vukovic (202-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nikola Pavlovic helped adding 20 points and 4 steals. Swingman Petar Lambic (195-92) responded with 9 points and 9 rebounds and guard Nemanja Subotic (196-84) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mladost Zemun moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Napredak A. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Vladicin Han where fifth ranked Crnokosa (7-4) defeated 4th placed Morava (7-4) 67-56 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-56. Crnokosa made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for guard Nenad Kasabasic (190-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Marko Kandic (203-79) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Milan Milenkovic (191-86) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Perica Mitic (184-85) scored 18 points and 9 steals. Crnokosa have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Morava. Crnokosa will meet at home Napredak A. (#6) in the next round. Morava will play against the league's leader Meridiana NS in Novi Sad and hope to secure a win.

Everything could happen in Beograd at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Beovuk 72 and 11th ranked Plana had identical 3-7 record. This time Beovuk 72 used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Velika Plana 93-84 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Plana won third quarter 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beovuk 72 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Plana's 34. They outrebounded Plana 40-24 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Milos Riboskic (195-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Igor Djukovic helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Beovuk 72 players scored in double figures.
